Yes, some software will take a large space of virtual memory. The size of virtual memory is depending on you RAM size. If such problem occurs, you can always expand the minimum size of your PC's virtual memory.

You have to follow the instructions:
1. Right click at "My Computer"
2. Click "Properties"
3. Then choose "Advance" menu
4. There are 3 sub-menus -- Performance, User Profiles & Startup and Recovery
5. Click "Setting" button in the Performance sub-menu. A "Performance Options" will appear after that.
6. Choose "Advance" menu in the window.
7. Click "Change" button in the "Virtual Memory" sub-menu.
8. Amend the number in the "Initial Size" and the "Maximum Size" spaces (please note that number to put in Maximum Size space is always twice the number which was put in the Initial Size space e.g 500-1000). Do not amend anything else in the option.
9. Click "Set" button, then click "OK".
10. You have to restart your PC to make the changes applied to your PC system.

p/s: This also work with laptops.

Good Luck.

If you haven't experienced this problem before, then this could be because of some malware, that is eating up your RAM. Try increasing your page file size through My Computer -> Rt Click -> Properties -> Advanced Tab -> Settings button under performance group box -> Advanced Tab ->Change button under virtual memory group box.
Try increasing these values, you may get a performance boost, after restarting your computer. But if you don't get try out some malware/virus/adware or other "*ware" removal tools.

Virtual memory is hard drive space reserved for swapping files, and running applications like pseudo-Ram. If you have a high-end system, adjust your operating systems virtual memory settings, provided you have the disk space, to allocate more memory for this purpose. If you've reached your hard drive's limits, start deleting unnecessary files to free up space.
If you have viruses, they might be eating up your virtual memory too. Your operating system should have some kind of program manager, where you will be able to see what programs are running. Also, if you aren't using programs that are running, close them; if it's upon start-up for your computer, remove them from your boot commands.
That's my two cents for ya.

Maggie digital memory is area taken up on your hard drive to help the RAM used by ability of your processor. The processor oftentimes makes use of major RAM as that's quick yet when courses you're making use of at the prompt are not at present making use of options held in RAM the operating equipment strikes this for your hard drive (digital memory) until eventually that's needed. This frees up area in RAM for different courses. oftentimes Microsoft recommend that the dimensions of the digital memory on your computer should be a million.5 circumstances higher than the dimensions of your RAM. So 1GB of RAM may required a change record of one million.5GB. you've little or no area left on your hard drive for the operating equipment to create the digital memory save or change record and that is may nicely be the reason on your mistakes messages. you want to liberate some area it truly is a minimum of more beneficial or less equivalent for your memory length plus 50%. upon getting finished this: (Assuming you're making use of XP) correct click on My computer icon and click on houses. elect the progressed tab and in the performance section clcik on the putting button. elect the progressed tab back and also you should work out the digital memory section on the bottom of the window. click on the replace button. you may se the minimum andmaximum sizes of the change record in the custom section. bear in options that the dimensions should be a minimum of one million.5 time the dimensions of the RAM put in. Whe chuffed click set. that's sturdy practice now to not enable your hard drive get too finished as different courses except the operating equipment have a tendency to apply non everlasting information and if the hard drive is finished those artwork artwork and the performance of your equipment will conflict through. I oftentimes leave a minimum of two GB loose.

You may have alot of programs running in your background. Go to start menu, Run, type in there msconfig and hit enter. There will be a start up tab. When you click on that it will list everything running in your background that is taking up space. Check off some of the thing running there and apply. That should help. FYI there are 2 things that should always be running systray, explorer

It may be because of some application that may be taking lot of memory. Also try to free some disk space on C drive (or the drive where the OS is installed).
