My samoyed puppy is 5 months old, and she still bites us. She doesn't break the skin, but her teeth still hurt A LOT. She is losing her baby teeth now, and the amount of biting seems to have gone down. The only thing is, we would like it to stop completely. We've tried holding her mouth shut, biting her ear very gently, ignoring her, putting her in time out, rolling her over on her back, making high-pitched noises, spraying her with water, giving her a shake while holding her by the scruff of her neck, scolding her, making a loud sound, etc...

Most of these techniques make her come back for more instead of stopping. She is a dominant dog, and is doing very well in obedience training, but we would really like this problem to stop. She is not possesive of anything. Does anyone have any tips or have you been through the same thing?

I have heard that you must never use or present your hands as toys or play things. I heard that puppies that bite think your hands are toys. Try buying her chew toys, especially things that she can retrieve for you like balls or Frisbees. Always be overly positive and reward her with the toys and punish her if she bites you. Maybe even stop completely to play with her for that moment if she bites you. Also try to keep your hands completely out of the way. For example, drop the ball or toy from your height, and be very careful petting her. Maybe she will forget about your hands as a toy then?

She's still a puppy and she thinks it playful. Get her toys for one thing. Get her a rope toy that she can bite and pull on from one end while you or another pulls on the other end.

How you give the command is another issue. Do you tell her "no" or do you tell her "stop!!" in a commanding voice. Be specific and clear with what you want her to do. No becomes a general command for most people to use and it confuses dogs in doing so. Try slapping a rolled up newspaper next to her and telling her STOP!! in your obedience voice. The slapping of the rolled up newspaper will startle her and get her attention.

Don't keep changing the "punishment" because it only confuses her even more so. Keep one and stay with it until she finally understands what you're looking for. Don't forget to praise her with a treat to start then petting when she follows through.

I have a fifteen year old Samoyed that I have raised from eight weeks old.
Whenever your precious dog comes against you, in any way, you may try physically restraning the dog. Most places will not stand or support you but the dog must learn that she CANNOT BITE YOU. I have bitten my male back and more than that even to get him into complete submission (him knowing and learning that I and MY FAMILY are the Alpha males[because I love my pet and my family] He is broken now and is the sweetest dog to everyone, especially the kids.) Dogs are work if you want a pet out of them. Kids are much different but very the same, and easier to train up in the way they should go than animals.

first of all permit me say i'm so sorry for the point of a domestic dog's existence your dealing with. No domestic dog is undemanding and it is fairly complicated whilst it involves instruction her. I quite have first hand journey with a pit bull named Hemi who comprehend is my perfect pal and my little toddler. What your experiencing is her dealing with a teething point whilst it involves biting components of your physique. epidermis is comfortable and such countless canines locate it comfortable to bit down and that i do no longer propose to the place it attracts blood or is a vicious chew. It does even in spite of the shown fact that relieve the soreness of their new tooth coming in. attempt crammed animals for awhile as a replace of in basic terms bite toys, it provides them that softness. domestic dog's and grown canines alike will consistently consume grass whilst they have an upset abdomen. The grass helps them to throw up and it makes them sense extra effectual. As for the eating of alternative animals poo canines like the flavor, or a minimum of maximum canines do. i might propose you freshen up the poo of alternative animals before your canines has a great gamble to consume it. you may start to work out a mild in the tunnel whilst your woman is a pair of three hundred and sixty 5 days old. while you're having problems along with her obeying then you definately i might additionally propose to circulate to domestic dog college (countless kennels have instruction instructions and in case you are able to no longer locate any call your vet they might desire to nicely known of a few that ought to assist you.)
