The NIV reads " In this age or the age to come." (Mathew 12:32) I think a few other translations have the word "age' as well. I believe He is referring to different dispensations. The next age is His 1000 year reign on earth. ( Revelation 20) I believe that is what he was referring to. He wasn't talking about what happens after death.

Christ is talking about people who know the truth but deliberately choose to ignore it. "Son of man" refers to the physical things while "Holy Spirit" refers to spiritual things. Remember that the Spirit is supposed to be Lord over the flesh. So forgiveness is for those who sin out of ignorance not those who pretend ignorance. And forgiveness comes on Judgment Day which was only known by God. Read Mathew 24:36. Physical death is one thing and its not the end of life. Spiritual death is another and that is the end of existence. After we die phsically, judgment comes to either give us eternal life, or eternal death and that is what Christ meant.

You have to understand what He means by 'sin against the Holy Spirit.' That being, final unrepentance. The moment we die, we enter eternity, there is no more time to repent, we've made our decision by then, thus there is no forgiveness for these poor souls because they rejected God while on earth. Our Good Lord is merely making this very important truth as clear as possible- the time to obtain salvation is NOW.

I think you misinterpreted the verse. What Jesus is saying is that what happens in this life will affect the life after we leave this world. Look at the verses I quoted, they also state that what happens here on earth has effect in God's presence.
Mt 18:18 "I tell you the truth, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.
Mt 6:14 For if you forgive men when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.

There is just a wee bit more to understanding this than at first might be realized. In the next life, after His 1000 year reign, man will have the chance to rebel, if they so choose, against God. One really does need to study the Bible closely for a complete understanding of it, which by the nature of your question, you appear to have not done. Read the entire book first, with attention to all prophecy and the information given for the future after this world as we know it now has ended.

Increasing Conflicts
Matthew's plot, like that of the other Gospels, focuses on conflict. In the context of promises of persecution for disciples engaging in mission (Mt 10), Matthew reveals the hostility that had already begun (9:3, 11, 14, 34) but was now growing.
We all go someplace...heaven or hell...forgiveness is only given on earth before we go to one place or the other.

its possible what He was talking about when the anti-Christ comes if you follow Him than you can not be forgiven. But this is just a possibility,Its really a mystery.Because I knew someone who said something bad about the Holy Spirit and the felt bad for 20 years and I got a message in my heart to tell that person that they may of said it but Jesus told me to tell them that He forgives them and that is not what He was talking about. The bible is a mystery.God is a mystery,And every ones life is a mystery. It may look bad at the time but it does not look that way to God in heaven or visa versa,It always looks greener on the other side of the road until you get over there then you want to go back to were you were at

Dear Friend,
Sin against the Holy Spirit, is when we have absolutely no dount that Jesus is Lord and the son of the one true God, and we speak against him or deny that he is so.
It is a common misconception that when we die we go to heaven, as is hell. The bible teaches us that this world will be made over anew and that we have the chance of living on a paradise earth.
"The heavens are my throne, and the earth is my footstool," God said. (Isaiah 66:1) Being the very acme of holiness, God will not allow his "footstool" to be soiled by evil indefinitely. (Isaiah 6:1-3; Revelation 4:8) Just as he purged the heavens of wicked spirits, so he will rid the earth of all wicked people, as the following Bible passages show:
"Evildoers themselves will be cut off, but those hoping in God are the ones that will possess the earth."—Psalm 37:9.
"The upright are the ones that will reside in the earth, and the blameless are the ones that will be left over in it. As regards the wicked, they will be cut off from the very earth; and as for the treacherous, they will be torn away from it."—Proverbs 2:21, 22.
God Bless

Jesus is telling you that speaking against the Holy Spirit is an unforgivable sin and he will not forgive you here or on Judgment day.
Jesus died for our sins so it is him that will speak for us on judgment day, Speaking against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven.
