Is it healthy to feed my dogs beef chunks everyday? I put in some white rice for them and feed them twice a day. Is it ok?

2007-03-15 21:41:18 · 13 answers · asked by Carrine G 1 in Pets Dogs

I fed them dry dogfood but they don't wanna eat it and now I use a blender and grind the dog food and sprinkle them on their rice. I tried brown rice, they wont eat it either. They seems to prefer white rice. I do feed them chicken (without the bones) and fish fillets, also sometimes I fry eggs for them. I usually cook the beef (steam it) so it will taste better and healthier? Ya I feed them twice a day, in the morning and at nite (usually 12 hours of difference). They are not very active (age 2 years old and 1+) Ya one of my dogs is getting fat. I do take them out in the mornings and then sometimes in the evenings. I constantly play fetch with them and just running around with them up and down the house, is that enough of physical activities? Is Rawhide dangerous??? I feed them toybones made from rawhide to stop them from chewing the furniture. Thanks everyone for answering me! My dogs thanks all of you too! Thanks!

Fried food is as bad for dogs as it is for humans. The only time I have ever been told to feed ground beef was to aid in helping with diarrhea when I boiled it with rice for a couple of feedings. Feed a good quality dog food.

Beef should be used as a treat, not a normal diet. A good quality dog food has the nutrients dog needs above just meat.

White rice is not good for them...use brown rice. Less starch and more nutritious. And rice is good for all domestic pets...well cats and dogs.

Pork is a no no. Chicken if well cooked is ok for dogs as a treat. Make sure there are no bones in the chicken. Fish is out. Chicken with brown rice makes an excellent "special diet" for ailing animals.

Dogs need a dry food for a variety of reasons. The teeth is one good reason why you don't feed your dogs a soft diet. The hard food helps keep tartar down. It also puts fiber into the body to keep their bowels working properly.

Yes it is fine. Cooked or raw.
I feed the raw diet so from experiance I do know it is healthy for your dog to have meat in its diet daily.

Do not listen to those that tell u to cook it first because your dog will get worms.
This is not true......... My dogs are very healthy with the raw diet and do not get worms nomore than a dog that eats dog food.
In fact my dogs usually always checks negative for worms

Dogs can eat chicken and pork also. BUT........ the pork has to be prepared right before fed to any dog. Chicken is good whether it is raw or cooked also. I feed mine whole raw chickens. Never feed cooked bones of any kind as they splinter but raw bones are ok. Just watch the dog with any kind of bones. They r actually safer than rawhide chews and greenies to feed your dogs.

I think it is healthy so long as the beef is cooked. I'd mix some "Pet Tabs" with it or any other doggy vitamin just be sure they get all their vitamins. As far as feeding the pooch twice a day, that really depends on how active the dog is.... if you're a morning jogger and take puppy with you then yes.. if the dog stays at home all the time and never sees the light of day.. no. He or she get will get fat.. and even dogs can get diabetes. :)

Raw beef is fine for dogs. Drop the rice though, your dog is not a vegitarian or omnivore. Find out more about feeding your dog raw food here www.rawfed.com

Use it as a treat rather than a staple. Dog food is designed to provide the healthiest diet for your pet.

Be sure to avoid pork & pork products! Many dogs are extrememly sensitive to it & it can cause some nasty digestive probs.

Never give your dog chocolate either!

I had 2 vets tell me that I can feed my dog white rice and plain, boiled chicken (with no bones it it, of course).....actually they all recommend dog food, but at the time she was sick and it was easy on her stomach.

No not every day. Change it up with chicken and pork as well. Mostly chicken. Think of it in terms of you eating rice with a beef patty everyday twice a day. Would you do it?? And how long before you got tired of it??
