I live a bit north of LA and SFV, there is a place where I live (simi valley which is off the 118) I really like called Candlelight Kitchen. As far as Hollywood goes Saddlranch seems to be a popular choice. There is one in Universal City Walk and off of Sunset.
If you are going down towards Sunset Blvd-you will find the gay bars in West Hollywood (Saddleranch area) Good luck

Contrary to popular opinion, i do not spend a lot of time in bars.
However, i've heard of a bar called Oil Can Harry's in Studio City that has, or used to have a gay night every Thursday.
Why don't you pick up a copy of the advocate and see what's there?
