If you hold both your hands out in front of you in a bowl shape, that is the amount of food that is considered "small". Pepper, hot sauce and foods like that will slightly raise your metabolism.

It depends on your size/weight. A 6ft 200lb man would eat bigger meal than a 5ft 100 lb female. take how many calories you want to eat in a day and divide it by how many meals. I am a small female, I try to keep my meal about 200 calories each, about 5 a day. If you are working out and building muscle, try to eat more protein. Watch your fats and sugars, also no white bread. 100% whole wheat is much better. Also drinking 8 or more glasses of water a day will help keep your metabolism up. You have to really read labels and follow the serving size suggestions.

in the end, it all comes down to calories in vs calories out although there is like a 50/50 debate on this; therefore, to determine how many calories a small meal is, you would need to decide how many calories you wanted to consume for the day. If your calorie intake is 1800, then split this among the 6 meals to get ~300 cal/meal. If youd o want to eat only 3 times a day, then eat 600 cal/meals.

one glass juice...10 nuts....2 crackers..is small meal... or one cup brown rice..3 veggie... or 2 slice bread with cottage cheese and low fat milk..
