i mean saddam was a bad man so we helped the people out by removing him. thats the argument.

So when are we removing the leaders from the following countries:

North Korea
Syria
Iran
Zimbabwe
Cuba

I mean surely if we are all going to be high and mighty and morally just about our mission, we are going to help everyone. Not just some random country. What made Iraq so special that the above countries dont qualify for invasion?

dkssud - I think you missed the point of what I was saying. I am on your side. I think youve taken my point to literally and didnt realise that there was sarcasm in what I said. Clearly Iraq should not even be an issue with the US except it has been thanks to the worst president since Carter.

The worst president since Nixon and Reagan!

What is so shameful about it is he had nothing to attack him for that we didn't know about when his Bush's father refused to go into Iraq 13 years before because it violated the UN Charter!

"Bush said that within 30 seconds Powell had Schwarzkopf on the phone assuring him that the mission had been accomplished.

"I don't believe in mission creep," he continued. "Had we gone into Baghdad -- we could have done it, you guys could have done it, you could have been there in 48 hours -- and then what?

"Which sergeant, which private, whose life would be at stake in perhaps a fruitless hunt in an urban guerilla war to find the most-secure dictator in the world?

"Whose life would be on my hands as the commander-in-chief because I, unilaterally, went beyond the international law, went beyond the stated mission, and said we're going to show our macho?" he asked. "We're going into Baghdad. We're going to be an occupying power -- America in an Arab land -- with no allies at our side. It would have been disastrous."

Bush said, "We don't gain the size of our victory by how many innocent kids running away -- even though they're bad guys -- that we can slaughter. ... We're American soldiers; we don't do business that way." George H.W. Bush!

"Am I happy that S.O.B. is still there?" Bush asked, then answered, "No."

We are now killing Iraqi's, making us no damn better than Saddam Hussein! And it goes without saying that WE PUT HIM IN POWER!

Sadly we have changed. You know the USA is not really going to attack anyone with nuclear weapons or help anyone not of financial value to certain parties within the USA. War may spiral the National Debt to Hades, but it lines the pockets with gold of those with the contacts and contracts. War is big business.

The human rights benefits in the last wars were a side note. But to the people they benefited -- tremendously worth it. Some people of Iraq are complaining now about our role as an occupying force in their country ... voicing an opinion was not an option with Saddam. Good for them as it shows they are on their way to Democracy. Maybe not our brand of Democracy, but then we aren't the only game in town.

Plus it sickens me that the Bushes ran their Presidencies in violation of the Geneva Convention Treaties with regard to torture. When Uncle Sam thinks he's above International Humanitarian Laws, he's gotten too big for his britches. The future generations will judge the Bushes more negatively for this and their love of usage of the Death Penalty here state-side.

The argument conservatives present isn't, "We went into Iraq to remove Saddam and liberate it's people". It's more like," we though they had W.M.D's, turns out Saddam hid them well, but either way it was the right choice because the world is better off without Saddam and in the process we will liberate and bring democracy to the Iraqi people...it was the right choice" It's basically trying to justify a big mistake...except most intelligent Americans wont buy it.

The war in Iraq is a complex issue, it's complexity allows for debatable reasons to justify it. However the truth is that it will never be justified and I hate to say it...but this time... WAR WAS NOT THE ANSWER.

I'm afraid that I have to say that you're quite NAIVE. What the president and his supporter say is the only 'positive' side of the Iraqi war, since every authority tend to justify their action in order to gain support from the mass. However, there always is something different beneath the surface that decorates the government policies. Prosperity of enterprises, expansion of American supremacy and all that kind of stuff......
I have to say that I guess you are one of the people brainwashed by 'Viva America' propagandas. I'm not urging you to become anti-Americanist but a wiser American and become REAL one.
There is no such a crusade. Those kind of words have been used during the Middle Ages to justify European Christians killing all Muslim women and children.(By the way, I'm not a Muslim.) Don't be attracted such cool-sounding words. If you really think the Iraqi war is something holy, just try going there. And you'll find it to be nothing but a burning pit of fire.
I guess you are not ready to mention other countries like North Korea and etc. But know this. Neither North Koreans nor Cubans are baby eaters but normal people like us. (They are no people of Axis of 'Evil')
Open your eyes....the reality isn't a movie like the Lord of the Rings!!!!!!!!

Because either (1) Bush Jr. had a special hatred for Saddam, becuase of past history with Bush Sr. or (2) Saddam caught Bush's attention before any of the others, or (3) it was easier for Bush to justify an attack against Iraq than any of the others.

Pick your excuse. The bottom line is that the US chose that particular invasion/occupation/liberation/intervention.

I'm shocked. I actually agree that Carter was a mess. But Clinton was a disaster we are still paying for and Carter made us a focus for terrorists.

Iraq is part of us.
At first thought it was none of my business.
But got myself kick on the butts for that.
Iraq as a living examples of punishmnet and destruction of human errors in planet of apes.
Decode this lyrics 'How long"
Do we want our brothers and sisters with the women and children in Iraq to continue on living in misery being strike down by our creator in planet of apes?
They are the living examples at our expense with the blunders and slip-ups with human errors in idol worshiping with self prides of self images of standing idols as peoples of different races of self racism in breaking our creator's first universal constituition and universal laws in worshiping God and got caught by our creator in Iraq in planet of apes.
Am so sorry for those poor women and children out there getting hit for the mess created out there in planet of apes.
Why we must come up with a yellow ribbon to save them in planet of apes.
Luke 21. 22-24
