you could ask them about their beliefs about many things and such, interests, opinions, ideas, pet peeves, how they get along with their parents, if they could do anything they wanted as work, what would it be, then after a time if they are comfortable with you, you could ask them if they believe in God or a God or higher power and that will pretty much tell you where they are coming from as far as their outlook on life..almost everything they think and do is based on ones belief in God or not..if your spiritual and/or religious beliefs are much different than the person you're getting to know, it prob wont go very far
If you get the chance, go to a used book store(call first)
and /or go toAmazon . com and get the book or pamphlet "Relationships- What It Takes to Be a Friend" by Pamela Reeve
great book on the subject of friendships and relationships..

What kind of movies, books, music do you like?
Its not hard getting to know someone, its just difficult when you start thinking too much. You start to second guess yourself. Most of the time people will gladly talk about themselves.

hmm.. mention YOUR interests in the question but dont make it seem like they are. example: u like rocks..
so.. have u heard of rocks?
answer: uhh.. yeh, they're cool.
haha yeh they are arent they blah blah i like this i like that about rocks.. and remember that rock that was on the tree.. that tree was so cool..
hahaha.. usually urconvo will merge off to another level and u get to know the person even more. its a sort of give and take.. dont totally hide urself because u wanna know about them.. let the other person get to know you too because u might just find soemthing in common that will get u guys talking even more. like i always say.. random is good.

find out from someone who knows him what his interests are such as, hobbies, does he like to read,what movies does he like to watch, does he like the outdoors and so forth
