it's downloadsing at approx 2-3 kbps...it used to be much faster..what could be the cause of this?

Firewalls could be a problem .... also it may be that other people aren't uploading as they should be - this will seriously affect the time it takes for you to get your song.
The other issue of course is that limewire is notorious for viruses so be careful.

1) You could be behind a firewall, and therefore Limewire does not have full access to the internet.
2) If you are on a wireless network, too many people may be on it and hogging the connection.
3) If you are also using anther downloading program that may be taking up all the speed. Click on you firewall icon to see what is using the internet.
4) There may not be many peers uploading the file, and many people may want it, so the download speed is slow. Try a download with a lot of peers and see if that is slow.

Maybe cos you are downloading from another users' computer , who got slow net speed or limited the upload speed and other reasons.
In other cases it maybe a Virus etc.
Is it taking long to download Limewire or is it taking long to download something through limewire?

Crawdash has the perfects answer.....i downloaded using Ares it free and very very fast! and so simple and way too easy to use and i got limewire pro 4.12.11 and it deadly slow and im on 8mb connection.
totaly impressed with Ares and im downloading 8-movies now...and time it averge time to finish downloadin is 2-4 hrs

it might de a virus limewire is full of them. get rid of limewire and get ares its free,easy to use and virus free.check your system with a anti virus as well.
