Speaking with a dentist friend on this subject, he informs me that once an ulcer is on its way, you have to go the whole route, which is at least 7 days. Aren't they just so painful for what seems to be a minor infection? And they can make you so miserable for a week! Mind you, I find its a way of cutting down on stuffing your face with things you shouldn't be eating - so I guess there's one benefit to the suffering.

There's a product I think called Bonjello or some such - seen it advertised on TV here in UK. This brings very quick relief from mouth ulcers. Another thing to watch is if you are using a strong mouth wash. This may be killing off friendly bacteria in the mouth which would normally stop you getting these horrid mouth ulcers. Try your local pharmacy see what they've got.

You must work on your ulcers in two ways:
- Internal
By internal, I mean you must control the food intake. Spicy and fried food will make your body "heaty" and the ulcer will take longer to healed. Take more fruit juice.
- External
By external, I mean your ulcer. The fast way I did at army is to place salt on the ulcer every morning, night and after every meal. Endure the pain for a while. Rinse off when you cannot stand it anymore. The salt will kill the germs and heals your ulcer faster than any medication. Think about this way, either you spread your pain over a few weeks or concentrate that pain for a few second.

Mouth ulcers have a number of causes, including a lack of vitamin C, or simply from tiredness. If you have a number of ulcers at the same time, or if you get them often, then it's a sure sign that your immune system needs a boost. To get rid of them quick, the best thing is to dab it with bicarbonate of soda - it'll sting like heck for just a moment, but it's seriously efficient!

Because the mouth is full of bacteria and is always moist so it's hard to make ointments and solutions stick to the ulcer for a long time. Try rinsing with warm salty water in addition to the treatment. It will help clean the mouth and sore.

They take ages to go as the mouth is always moist and warm which germs thrive on . Some mouth ulcers are herpes related . I think they maybe appear when you are run down etc .

On of the simplest ways of clearing up ulcers is to gargle with salt water. The reason why it takes so long to clear up is that the mouth is a perfect place for bacteria to grow as it is warm and moist.

mouth ulcers are often caused by stress, and topical application of bonjela or similar local aneasthetic is just a temporary relief. try getting a good nights sleep and doing some stress relieving exercise. also regular use of antiseptic mouthwash (oraldene is good) will stop the ulcer being so sore in the meantime.

Check with the pharmacy for any cream that can help to reduce the pain and heal faster.
I have that at home but I think you should get advice from qualifed person.
Rinse your month with salt water (table salt + water) often and I think it helps. It works for me.
