Say you grew up in the wilderness with a couple other people, like Blue Lagoon style- for whatever reason you were raised alone.

No church
No taught morals
No influences other then your friends in the same boat

What you do think you would believe? How would you act? Would you have any rituals or religious type things?

I'll start off by saying I think murder would be non-existant since the couple companions you had would be needed to help gather food and whatnot.

Heh, well, I grew up in the wilderness about 15 miles from civilization. :) But, in your scenario...

Have you read The Hatchet? I read it when I was a kid. Your question reminds me of it...

I agree there would probably be no murder. In aboriginal peoples, you find relatively little murder, although sometimes there can be waring tribes. (Far fewer people died in their conflicts than modern ones.)

I don't know if I would have rituals right away, but I think they would evolve within a few generations. There's something about the human experience, especially in nature, that makes us want to symbolize our experience inside ourselves and connect it to the outside world -- and that's what I think basic rituals are. They connect the physical reality of nature with the super-ego, so to speak.

But I think there wouldn't be religion (as in organized religion) until at least enough generations for an agriculture revolution. I'm saying that only because organized religion only appeared in human cultures after the agricultural revolution.

I would like to think you are right, but if I grew up blue lagoon style I would worry that there would come a time ( assuming the couple of others were a man and a woman) where he realized that brook fancied me and tried to kill me or, if they were both woman, that they attacked each other. the ideal situation would be if they were both woman who were open to new things. Then I can imagin us living in harmony.

Helen Keller was close to this. She could not communicate with anyone until Ann Sullivan learned to do so. One of the first things Ann did following learning to communicate with Helen was to tell her about Jesus. Helen's answer was...I have known Him for some time...I did not know HIS name.

(note: although I have no problem believing the above, I have not been able to find documentation to the story)

The point....I do believe God reveals Himself to those who have not heard and if they accept and walk in the light that is revealed to them, He will lead them into a closer relationship with Him.

Those reading this have an advantage...they can establish a relationship God in only a moment...read the link below.

I know for a fact, because this has happened, that it is very possible that one, or all of us would seek to find the creator of the world around us. Wycliffe Bible Translators have found primitive cultures in South America that are well aware that there is a creator, and that they have sought to know him. When presented with the basics of faith, their answer was that they already knew that, and wanted to be taught more of the true God.

murder wouldn't be nonexistant, look at "lord of the flies"--those kids had rituals too. I'd imagine most of mine would be more superstitious than anything, since they'd have been created within one lifetime and based on luck of the moment

There may be disagreement because some people may now want to do anythin and i can say believe in faith because i am alive living every single day, i cannot say the rocks, or sands, or air gave me live

I think they would be decent social animals as are we all, however, I do not see a reason why murder could not possibly happen.
