I hate going to the doctors but have had a virus for over a week and have had a sore throat for about a week. And My ear feels as though it has fluid in it and is blocked, although is not amazingly painful unless it shifts a bit, I have a cough and headache. I don't want to go to the doctors unless it won't go away on its own.

hey i think you should go! i don't like to hassle my doctor either and don't like taking antibiotics unless i have to. but last time i spoke to my GP he said if after 7 days you don't feel better then go and get yourself checked out, most viruses normally don't last that long so it's probably a bacterial infection so you should get it sorted.

Cold/Flu can take up to 2 weeks to go away. Drink plenty of clear fluids, get rest, and take vitamins. You should see a doctor about the throat and the ear though, may have strep or another bacterial infection.
To the people telling you to take antibiotics for the virus:
Antibiotics only work with bacteria. If it is a virus, antibiotics will do no good.
Also, dont pour baby oil in your ear.. ever.. If you have an infection in your ear you should go to a doctor and get antibiotic ear drops.

Don't know if you are in the uk or not, but try the NHS drop in centre, they are less hassle! Also most surgeries you can make an appointment with a practice nurse, again, less hassle, and more likely to get an appointment, they are trained to deal with less serious things, and they can prescribe to a certain limit, they will also tell you if you should consult a GP. They will not prescribe antibiotics for a virus, and usually don't for sore throats anymore, unless it is particularly virulent. However, if it is not going away, you should go and get it checked out, more for your peace of mind than anything else. Take care, and get better soon.

One of the big problems with virus infections is that they are un-treatable. This can be a major waste of time when you go to the GP and he tells you there is nothing you can do about it other than taking paracetamol.
Having said that it sounds like you may have a secondary infection in your ears and throat. You need to see a GP to get your secondary infections sorted out.

Take Tylonel cold and sinus or that flu stuff. I dont remember the name exactly but it is a tablet form it helped me when i had some of those symtoms. Get some baby oil and get it hot then have someone pour it down ur ear very slowly.
Well i hope that you get better.

You need an antibiotic. You can't get human form without a Dr., but some vet forms are the same.

I once had terminal diarrhoea, near comatose narcosis and bore it out for about eight years.
Stop being such a sissy and take a long hard look at yourself ;)

go to a chinese restaurant, order some hot and sour soup, it is made with a chicken broth base. add as much cayenne or hot pepper to it as you can stand, top it with the cut tops of some green onions. you will be better in a day or so.
