i am 16 and am skinny(i use to be fat) my hand and legs are skinny but i am strong. i just can't build muscle, i do at least 1500situps and 100pushups weekly but can't build muscle.

i don't know if i am suppose to lift weights instead or what.

please help me.
if i don't need weights or machines please tell me what exercises to do.

What you're looking for is a buiking routine that involves a lot of protein and carbohydrates with heavy weightlifting at low reps. Push-ups do not give you enough weight to actually bulk up. There are several resources online to help you with this. www.bodybuilding.com is a good place to start.

For your diet, Id suggest a diet of about 15 calories per pound of body weight. So if someone is 200 pounds, theyd take in 3000 calories per day. This diet should be mostly protein, although brown rice and/or beans are fine. Make sure you eat your greens also.

As for bulking, you will want to get your hands on some weights. Stick with low rep, high weight exercises as a rule of thumb. For bulking you can do things like dead lifts, squats, and pull-downs. Just remember you must focus on very specific muscle groups per workout, and allow yourself to rest!

When I was 18 I joined the army. My height 6 ft. and weighed 147 lbs.. They put me on a well rounded high protein diet and plenty of exercise. When I left basic training I weighed 176 lbs. just 8 weeks later. The only way for me to keep the muscle on is to keep up this regimen.
I have been out of the army for 20 years, but I like the cut they built.

To build muscle you have to lift weights and have a protein filled diet.

oh that could be a very terible dilemma of yours..hehe..actually i can relate to that problem since i was also skinny during my past months..you know i tried the gym but nothing happened...i lift weights but i dont want to build muscle on my arms since it wouldnt be proportion to my body...what i did? i eat and eat and eat and eat a lot...and if you could see me now..hey you would definitely say "sexy"...hehehe
