I know the secret to getting a baby off the bottle in 1 or 2 days. First you put a regular sippy cup on the table with milk or whatever. Set it to the side, then make the baby a bottle. Do not let the baby see you making it. Put salt in the bottle, then give it to the baby. The baby will say it is yucky, then u dump it out and this time put more salt in it. The baby will say yucky again, then u suggest that the baby use the sippy cup.

That is all! You have to put in the babies mind that it is the bottle that is bad not the milk. They wont ask for another bottle again!

Common you guys, if this is the case then the child should not eat chips or crackers or anything like that. I didnt say make the baby drink it all. I said let him try it. He will not drink it all and just a sip then he will spit it out!

No i do not have child, but i have a nephew! His mother took away his bottle when he was younger. Then a few wks later she gave it back to him one night. Then she sent him to me to watch him, and she did not bring him a bottle. He was screaming all night long. I was holding him and walking around with him when he started crying. Then when i put him down after he feel asleep he woke up again crying. He put me thru hell that night.

That is really NOT a good idea! The salt can be terribly dangerous for them, even just a tiny bit! Good idea sort of though... try something else!

Personally I just took the bottle away and said it was all gone. Sure they cried some but soon got over it. All 3 of my girls were off the bottle around the age of 1. I never put anything in their bottles. Just said you get a big girl cup now. If you think a crying baby is putting you through hell, try having two teenage girls at the same time!

Wow these people really don't like you secret. It's not a bad idea. The baby doesn't drink the bottle of salt he just tastes it. Brilliant. If you make it nasty why would the kid want it. I didn't wean my children this way but it sounds reasonable enough. Everybody else should lighten up. You didn't pour salt in the kids mouth or anything. The amount of salt ingested depends on how long your kid wants to drink that gross mixture. Most kids are smart enough to spit it out and ask for a cup.

Until you are a parent and have some knowledge of what too much salt can do to a baby, don't suggest something like this. There are easier ways to get the baby off the bottle. What you are saying reminds me of a poisoning. I'm mom to 3 and very disturbed that you would even suggest such a thing.

Thats awful, for a start babies should not be having salt.
Its not good for them as their kidneys cant cope with it.
Why cant you just let the baby decide when it is ready to use a cup, whats the rush, it has the rest of its life

he put YOU through HELL?
did it ever occur to you that there may have been something wrong with him.
GOD you sound like a right selfish woman.

That's by far the worst way i have ever heard of taking a bay off a bottle. i have taken two babies off bottles and by simply replacing it with a sippy cup was more than affective. Sorry I don't agree.

I guess you haven't seen the recent case of the woman accused of murdering her child through salt poisoning? Oh wait, was that you??

To anyone else who might think this is a good idea, do not ever give your child excessive amounts of salt for ANY reason.
