God Almighty is not into "image" - He is into TRUTH. He is His own definition, righteousness, holiness, Truth, justice, love, mercy, faithfulness and perfection. He does not need to vindicate Himself, explain Himself, justify Himself - He is GOD. What He does is right, True, holy, good, pure and just.

The whole point of the OT was to set the scene for the coming Messiah. It was to show man's depravity, and that they could NOT keep the Law, no matter how good they were. Jesus came to FULFILL the law, and ever since we've been under Grace, which means that we don't have to keep the OT Levitical laws of cleanliness, and rituals and sacrifice and such. He WAS our sacrifice for sin, for all who will accept Him. For those who don't, they are still under the Law, and will be judged BY the law of God if they don't come to Jesus before they leave this world. So to answer your question, He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for all the OT law that mankind could never keep....

Pet peeve: you don't mean 'in lieu.' You mean 'in light.'
'In lieu' means 'instead.' Your question doesn't make sense, with that in mind.
But, let me answer the meaning I believe you intended to ask.
I think God from the Old Testament needs to go to quite a number of anger management classes.
How fair is it for God to expect perfection and purity from human beings, but he gets to rage and kill and do all kinds of horrible things?
Not fair at all.

"I'll only tell you one more time. I do not have your rug!"
There is no need to "improve" His image, as it is not He who has erred rather we who fail to understand the ways of His judgment and His singular right to accomplish that judgment.
His image was made complete for our understanding when He gave us Son as the perfect offering.

The image of God is perfect, it's imperfect man that cannot see because he lacks eyes to see with. Ask for wisdom and you will receive sight.

For those that know what's really going on, he doesn't have to. And since they are the only ones that He calls to Him, so be it. On the other hand, those that do not really don't know what's going on will just have to keep wondering about those PR adjustments. ( ;

Nothing. One of the problems with any religious text is that there is no way to fix errors. So, they continue to accumulate until it becomes clear to anyone who looks that the whole thing is bogus.

He could give me some money... maybe some flowers... I'd like a pizza, but if he can't pull that off, maybe just a baked potato.
Um....... I dunno, he should come up with something, he's "all knowing" and he's supposed to make up for being a butt so he should do the legwork!
