Like they've said, it's a state-determined issue at the moment. There's varying levels of what's allowed - for instance partial-birth abortions (which happen pretty late in pregnancy) are only allowed in a few states, I think; states have difference cut-offs for when abortions are allowed. Sometimes there are also circumstantial criteria for whether or not they should be allowed, or for how late an abortion can take place - i.e., in the case of rape, pregnant children, incest and all.

Abortion is legal in most states during the first trimester
It is illegal in most states during the third trimester.
Second trimester is a gray area.
In most states, abortion is proscribed if it is done after the point of viability which is somewhere around week 24.
For all of those who think that abortion is a murder. Regardless of your PERSONAL views and choices, a WOMAN should have a right to choose. This right may not necessarily be absolute, but at least early on in pregnancy she should have an unobstracted right to choose. It is HER personal decision.
Anyway, this whole abortion framework might change really soon, in fact, by this summer when US Supreme Court announces its decision at the end of the term.

Unfortunately it is!! To people that have this dilema, they do make birth control pills and condoms! Adoption is also an option. Why do people always want the easy way out?

Yes it has been legal since 1973
And you still can't murder that which as not been born...so it's not murder...unless you want to call a miscarriage "murder" as it too is an abortion...an abortoin is a termination of pregnancy...there are medical abortions and spontaneous abortions...either way they are BOTH terminations of a pregnancy...so those who call "abortion" murder are calling mother's who have miscarriages murderers as well since their bodies for some reason terminated their pregnancies...some miscarriages are caused by stress...so would a woman who miscarriages because she has too much stress be a murderer?
And contrary to what Ave thinks...a minor does not have to have a parent present...MOST states do not require parental consent and even less states require parental notification.

legal, yes and good for the pro-choice people, i still believe in respect for human life and the benefit of adoption, many couples wants to adopt and had to go and adopt from another country. abortion is a big blow to a woman's internal milieu, leaves a dent in their spirit
