Anyone realised this?

I have read a lot of Buddhist teaching. I can't say that I have seen any flaws, to tell you the truth.

There is a common misconception among fundie Xtians that Buddhists worship Buddha. This isn't true. Buddha taught how to achieve enlightenment. This is not done through worshiping anyone or anything, least of all him. One attains enlightenment by listening, by observing, and by awakening.

One responder said that Buddhism lacks compassion. I would have to say that of all of the practiced religions/philosophies I have read of and experienced, Buddhism seems to be the most compassionate. One can make a very strong case that the heart of Buddhism IS compassion.

Thich Nhat Hanh writes about this in 'Living Buddha, Living Christ,' a book I would recommend to anyone who is interested in learning more about Buddhism.

One is translations, not understanding the origins of a word, and translated incorrectly, can be confusing with what people already believe in (translation form Sanskrit, Tibetan, etc to English is continued from the people that I know that are translating talks and scriptures, and word are always being changed to something else in order to clarify the true understanding of the Buddhist teachings).

Two is the way some people take the Buddhist teaching and bend them for their own purpose, to justify there action, in which every religion also has a problem with.

Three is learning the higher teaching before understanding the basic teaching. One cannot understand the tantric teaching unless one has a good base for the Hinayana and Mahayana teachings, and then the tantric is not understood correctly. If one is not ready to receive this teaching, then one shouldn't go deep in it, cause it harms the ego very badly, which causes intense suffering.

All these are not really Buddhist teaching flaws but a teacher/students flaws, were the mistake would have to happen. Of course, when it come to the law of karma, then there are no flaws, just misunderstandings that are not possible to ripen for understanding the teaching correctly, as of yet.

P.S. From your statement of your question, I do not expect you to understand this, cause I do sense a bias from your question, but in case I'm just projecting incorrectly, forgive me.

There is no flaw with the "original" teachings or truths that Guatama Buddha was able to widely communicate. These were around well before in the Vedas and teachings of Dhama, but available only to monks, not the common people.
But there have since been alterations and additions.(As with most religions)
Also the practice of meditation to attain the state of "buddhahood" is not a workable route, since very few have actually attained this state by this method.
The "flaw" or ommission was that 2500 years ago the science was not avaiable for Gautama Buddha (who did attain buddhahood) to research and develop a workable route or bridge that anyone could cross safely to stably attain these higher states of existence.

I practise the Dharma and follow the Teachings therein and am not required to find fault or flaw. It is an interesting question however and although I haven't contemplated this before, I will leave the discovery to others more qualified to do so.

That said, I am interested in other's thoughts and perhaps I'll learn of it in due course.

A good question well posited.

Peace from a Buddhist....

not making the man buddha into god like the christians did with jesus. buddha was a more intelligent and empathetic teacher. unfortunately they didn't export the religion to pagans of europe early enough. or else all these people in this forum will be spouting buddhist dogma instead of waiting for jesus to come or whatever!

Buddhism has many wonderful things to teach, but it is sorely missing compassion. I have known too many buddhists who are simply willing to let bad things go on happening and blame it on other people's bad karma. ultimately I find that the personal relationship with a loving God in Christianity serves much better than Buddhism.
