Trying to make subjects like math or world/US history religious where religion doesn't even fit.

My parents sent me to religious schools until the middle of 10th grade, and even in elementary school, every single thing had a religious slant where one would not expect it to be at all. I can see where morning chapel once a week, Bible history every morning, creationism taught even though the books used taught evolutionism, or singing classes would make sense to include the religion. But adding it to the other subjects just never made sense to me even when I was attending there.

Is that an extreme case of religion being taught to kids or is it commonplace?

I went to catholic high school and it sounds very similar to my experience. There was a movement to make sex ed mandatory in high schools by the gov, so we were forced to watch anti-abortion videos and -"if you have sex you will go blind"- type of videos to fulfill our sex-ed education. They were pretty pathetic, as they really taught nothing about protection, STDs, girl's periods, etc.

Currently, im agnotist.... do I think is right that these schools do this type of brainwashing? not at all... however, these schools are private schools, parents pay a LOT of $$$ for kids to have this type of education, so I don't think anything or anybody should dictate how the school teaches... as much as I disagree w their views, we live in America, we have freedom, and these are private schools..... As long as these kids can pass their SATs, and any other exam to get into college and get a real education, none of my business.

Now, if these were the case for a public school....... then that's a different story!!!!!!!!!! Not only is wrong, it should not be allowed!!!!!

I don't know about the math, but I can tell you Western history made soooo much more sense after I became Catholic. I really feel it is impossible to understand Western history without a good grasp of Catholicism and the history of the Church.
