Why? Because I have a white beautiful cat and her name is Nala and I think shes beginning to be lonely and wants a friend.
I can afford taking my cat to get its shots and do whatever it takes as long as I get one. Ive had Nala for about 5 years now and shes living fine and I BABY THE HELL OUTTA HER!!! Shes sooo spoiled and I love it cause she loves me, lol.
I want a male cat so I can name him Simba... get it? Nala and Simba!

PLEASE rescue an animal before you consider paying that much for one. You can get a shelter animal for cheap. I got my rescues at PetSmart when they were just kittens. It cost $70 and they were already spayed, neutered and had all their shots and flea treatments.
Thousands of animals are euthanized everyday because no one rescues them. If you really love animals, you will consider this an option. The Humane society has pictures of all available animals, and it is updated every 1/2 hour, so hopefully you can find the one you are looking for. Good luck!

Oh okay, well my Persian was £180 but that was like, 12 years ago... she's so pretty, she's an odd eyed white with the cutest furry paws in the world.
Your best bet is actually a rescue specifically for Persians. They will sell them cheap. Alternatively look for a cross breed with a persian as one of the parents, they should sell for half if not quarter of the price.
A person above mentioned the health problems. Yeah they do have a point, they get sniffles really bad, gunky eyes and matted fur. They are a very high maintenence breed but they make up for it in temperament and sheer adorableness. We clip our persian because despite what people will say about regular grooming there are still little tats that you will miss that need attention. Also, a bath every two weeks will benefit kitty if she/he is white. They are very sweet natured with round little ears and big eyes. They don't really act "cat-like."
You won't regret getting one, because they will return all the effort with being a fab pet!
xx

Check your shelter. PB cats are lovelyin thought, but the prettiest cat I have EVER come across is what was a kitten I came home with one day. Just picked him up fairly randomly at a neighbor's house, she'd offered to find him a home. He does ressemble a ragamuffin and has *what i think would be* the temperment of a rag-doll.
Serious, just go check out the humane societyand find a cat you like, fluffy doesn't just come in expensive, you know.
Also, most cats that grew up being the lone cat in the house will want to stay the lone cat in the house. We have had one female for nine years now,and even after three random additions *went to the shelter for a dog, came home with a dog and a kitten. then there was my pretty kitty, and the little fart that litteraly showed up at our back door* she won't accept any of them as residents. Hisses and snarls.

Give yourself some time and check around at different places; you may find one that someone needs a home for. Check the SPCA for example. Don't be too anxious. Keep your eyes open. Check the ads in the newspaper. My cousin lives near Paris and found an ad in the newspaper or online for a certain type of dog. They went all the way to Germany and found a sweet little dog that had been poorly taken care of and neglected. You wouldn't recognize this dog today. They treat her like a princess.
You'll find what you want or what you think you want. Sometimes something better comes along that you would have never thought of. Keep an open mind.

first of all, do you realize how much effort and time the coat on one of these cats takes? If you are not willing to groom and clean eyes *every day* don't get one. A matted up persian is a sad site and very unhealthy and painful for the cat. THey can also have upper respiratory issues from the flat face (messed up sinuses, teeth and nostrils). Their teeth have to be cleaned once a year as they tarter up quickly (due to the way the jaw is formed) and if you don't get regular dental care for them, they can end up losing teeth and with gum infections. For the price you want to pay, you will end up with back yard breeders who may not even have purebred cats. 500 to 600 is a rock bottom price for a pedigreed well bred one.

I'm sure there are Persian rescue groups out there. even if you go to your local animal shelter you may be able to find a Persian. Doing that will make you feel better anyways because you are likely saving a life, not just supporting a breeder.

Get on the computer and look up Persian rescues and you could get one for next to nothing. Try Google and type in Persian cat rescue, I bet you get a lot of them.

You should try visiting your local shelters to see whether they have any cats you may like.
I do have to ask however:
If you can't afford the pet, how are you going to afford the veterinary bills/food/toys/care the cat needs?
