Well it takes more than 48 hours to heal for one thing, and you should have gotten instructions on that as well as problems that might occur and need immediate attention from who ever did the surgery.

2 - It could be the carpet cleaning you did as no animal enjoys the scent of chemicals. Water and Vinegar are a better option - even in carpet cleaning. Or

If anyone or all have been dealing with a cold(s) in the household and (not using a sanitary hand cleaning product when washing up) that cold can be passed on to the animal(s). Be it a dog, cat, hamster, rabbit, etc...

It could be the carpet cleaning, or it could be a "kitty cold", or Upper Respiratory Infection (URI). If you adopted your cat from a shelter, that is a very likely option, since many shelter cats have them - they're contagious, and the cat pass them back and forth.

Call up the place you adopted her from (or your vet), and ask what they think. If it's just an occasional sneeze, you probably don't need to worry, but if it gets worse, or if she becomes lethargic, stops eating, and/or gets a runny nose/eyes, then she needs to see the vet and will probably be prescribed antibiotics.

Btw, the flu virus is species specific. It's not true that your cat could have caught it from a sick human, nor can you catch it from her, so don't worry. :)

Why your adopted cat just fixed? Cause Bob Barker reminded you to spay and neuter your pets!

She will be sore for about a week, just keep her calm during this time.
