nascar doesn't race here for awhile yet, but I'm wondering what people think of it. it's my home track, and I have grown to love the place. do you hate it? 2 races, too many? too long? i will say the racing was a lot better before the new gear rule, when they used to shift on the straightaways. it is a different track though, with 3 different style turns, which i always liked. how do you nascar fans feel about Pocono?

Been going to Pocono for the past 6 years. Your right I too think the gear rule did made it a lot easier track for the drivers. Before you had to decide whether to run a gear ratio where you didn't have to shift, but put a strain with the rpms on the engine, or shift and treat it like a road course.

As far as the track & race. There are better tracks to see a race (ie Dover), but Pocono is special for the atmosphere and tailgating. It's a BIG party, and it's no one but your own fault if you don't have a good time.

I would hate to see Pocono lose a date, when California can't sell out the 92,000 seats.

I enjoy Pocono.. Now, I'm not even one to say that it doesn't deserve a second date! The racing I think is pretty phenomenal.. Watch the gauges during that race.. Some of them cats are runnin 9500 RPMS around that place EVERY LAP, NOT SHIFTING.. That's crazy that a motor can take punishment like that. The only thing I would change @ Pocono is how the 2 race dates are SOOO CLOSE.. That's kinda wild. Granted, this year it seems like there not AS CLOSE.. But only 6 races between the Pocono Events.. That's too short! I know Michigan is the same way too.. I wish they'd spread it out more.

Been to Pocono 4 times, Charlotte 2, Daytona1, Michigan 4, Loudon 1, Richmond 1, Bristol 1, Dover 2, Watkins Glen 8.
Worst thing I can say about Pocono is that the races are too long. Cut 'em to 400 & you'd have some of the best racing on the circuit. Nothing compares to the night race at Bristol.

It is a long race track and at times it can get boring to watch. But 90% of the time I enjoy watching the race and the track usually has good racing. Two races are good there and I like when Nascar visits Pocono.

I visited the track when the dirt site was being built in 1968. The inner 3/4 mile track was near completion.
We watched super modifies and modified black top cars there for years. Guys like : Ray Hendrick, Maynard Troyer, Richie Evans, Bryan Osgood, Geoff Bodine, Roger and Merv Trichler, Jimmy Shampine and others raced yearly in the inner track. When the big triangle first opened the modifies raced there yearly long before The "taxi cabs" ( Winston Cup) cars arrived.

You couldn't ask for a more beautiful place for a racetrack. Surrounded by the tall pines sitting in the grandstand you feel on top of the world. We can see miles around the setting is gorgeous.

I'd like to vote for shifting as it led for more exciting racing. Crew chiefs had to choose gear box ratios which led to motors screaming off the corners. The cars blast down the front chute and burying into turn one. The good set-ups could drive hard over the second turn entrance culvert making breathtaking passes. The tricky flat third turn is fun to watch. The good handling cars can flat foot off the corner and sweep to the wall out to the wall and jump to an advantage down the front chute. See Ya at the races.

Pocono has and will be one of the most intresting tracks. The different turns and the long straight aways make for some good racing. There is not much that one can complain about. The only complaint that I've heard is the races are too close together.
That's all I have to say about that.

I went to two or three races back in the 1980's, I say the races are too long especially when you get the rain delays. Maybe only one of the races should be a 500 other one needs to be shorter. Other then that keep the two races it's a great track.

I love Pocono. Its a speedway road course. Three turns with three different radius and banking with three different straights. Very cool. Its the classic example of picking where you need to be better than the other guy and give up less in the other places. Very cool.

Hey Jon! I think Pocono is good. The racing there is still good. Especially when Denny Hamlin won both races last year!

By the way, do you like my new avatar?
