I can't understand why energy was wasted trying to get the administration to admit mistakes were made in Iraq. What purpose it served I don't know, how it helps our troops, I don't know, how it achieves victory, I don't know.
If mistakes were made in every war, then why so much pressure to get this administration admit it's mistakes?

None, because the US committed many errors in all the wars that it fought.

all armies made mistakes in all wars, victories or defeats. But you put this in other terms. A big mistake or a disaster. Well i guess that in the mexican-american war US didn't a big mistake, in World War I there wasn't a big mistake because US just fight a few time, the spanish- american war.
The independence had an irregular rythm
The civil war, well was terrible for the country
World War 2 market garden, too many casualties in omaha beach and the battle of the pass of kaserine
Korea: The great retreat
Vietnam: there was a lot of errors
Gulf war: that was the only good moment to overthrow saddam without side effects
Afghanistan: US waste the money for the reconstruction in iraq
Iraq: so many errors that is impossible to write in this answer

I believe the Franco-Russian war and Great Britain against the Argentina. We did not participate in either.
Any hostility will cause mistakes from the Commander in Chief down to the lowest private in each and every military in each conflict including the two mentioned above.
The United States could be compared to a football team that never leads in the first three quarters of the game. We make many mistakes. Unfortunately, the only one we lost so far was because it was fought from the white house and Congress got involved.
The military has not lost an engagement since the first day of the Vietnam war. Unfortunately, this one may wind up being fought from the Congressional Office Buildings.
The politicians must do their jobs correctly if we are going to win this one.

I cannot name one war in history that had no mistakes...no matter who the aggressor was. The nature of war is dirty, in fact, war is almost always a mistake in and of itself. And even where wars have been justified, the horrors of war are never justified...the rapes and murders associated with wars, as well as collateral death involved...war is bound to always be a mistake in one way or another.

My answer: Indo-Sino War of 1962.
The US did not make any mistakes because it did NOT TAKE PART IN IT.
But, yes, for every war it did take part in, the US made mistakes!

No. But there were wars, such as both world wars, in which the US participation itself was NOT a mistake.

War is synonymous to mistake.
So no war is exempted from mistakes!
