The best exercise really is the one you'll stick with. Find something you enjoy that gets you active and burns decent calories. This could mean walking or running outside, hiking, swimming, biking, cross country skiing, boxing or kickboxing, weight lifting, etc. Spending hours on a machine doesn't necessarily mean it's the best thing for you. I suggest keeping an open mind and trying out different things.

There are many machines you can use in a gym, and really any of them are pretty decent for you. Don't focus your goals on looking good so much as being healthy and making it a fun part of your life. When viewed like this, it's much easier to stay with exercise than if you're only concerned about looking good. The idea is to develop good habits that stay with you permanently.

Swimming or a Skier (like a nordictrack) also try resistance strength training. All work all the major muscle groups with a certain amount of cardio. Meaning you are gonna burn more fat building muscle.

It's hard to get rid of cellulite, also known as "cottage cheese" by millions of American women. It's also impossible to spot reduce from specific areas of the body. But the good news is that if you reduce overall body fat, you can start to get rid of the pockets of fat in your stomach and thighs, as well as reduce the appearance of cellulite.

To answer your question on exercise, the best kind is the one that you'll do! :-) In our busy modern world, it's hard to find a program that you can enjoy and stick to. Find something that you like, that you can incorporate with your family if needed and that doesn't require a lot of time investment (like driving to the gym).

For effectiveness in weight loss, I'd recommend long periods of intense cardiovascular activity (about an hour for maximum cardiovascular benefit). For low-impact cardio, try swimming, spinning, or the elliptical trainer. For convenience, try walking, running, or jump rope, which can be done without a gym or fancy equipment. I'd also recommend working out between 80-85% of your target heart rate, for maximum cardio benefit. This can burn a large number of calories in a short period of time and help you to lose weight faster. If you're just beginning a program or have been overweight for years, start out slowly, and listen to your body. It will take time to improve your physical endurance.

Lifting weights will also help to define the muscles under the fat layer and contribute to the appearance of a shapely body. It will also improve your strength and mobility. It burns fewer calories than cardio, and requires periods of recovery between overloading the muscle groups, but can also be done in a small amount of space without fancy equipment (dumbbells, body resistance, etc). And it will help to reshape your body better than cardio, in my opinion.

Of course, don't forget calorie intake. To lose body fat, it's important to consume fewer calories than your body uses to maintain your current weight. To avoid sending your body into starvation mode, don't go below the minimum caloric intake of 1200 calories for women, and 1500 calories for men.

I hope that this helps and will prove useful in your program! It's difficult to lose weight and get healthy, but the results are worth it! :-)

Horese riding is good for weight loss and so is motorcycle riding....Plus it will get your bf off the couch too. Swimming is excellent - I went to the pool 3 days in a row and I lost 10lbs in that time!!
