The why is always more important than the how. That's the first thing any true martial arts instructor will teach you.

But a less philosophical answer would be "Check the Yellow Pages for a martial arts studio in your area." Karate, Kung-Fu, Tae-Kwon-Do, Judo, or Jiu-Jitsu are probably the most common.

Do you mean learning how to fight in order to defend yourself; or learning how to fight in order to beat up & bully people; or do you mean sportfighting (UFC/Pride, etc.)?

If you want to learn how to fight in order to defend yourself, then I'd suggest the study of the martial arts. That is the most reliable way to learn in both a constructive & safe environment. However, it is important to "shop around" and find style that fits your personality & temperment as well as finding a qualified instructor with experience.

If you want learn how to fight in order to fight...then just pick some fights with people of similar age, size & weight who look like they fight a lot. You'll discover very quickly the "hows" & "whys" of fighting. Also, I'd suggest purchasing the UFC/Pride/MMA/sportfighting DVD boxsets that are available at your local Wal-Mart. They'll teach you everything you'll need to know.

If you want to learn how to fight in order to compete in sportfighting, then still purchase those DVD boxsets and start saving up money to attend a training center (if you have one in your local area).

The Better Teacher for Teaching the fight is Yourself.
Fight is an art , first you should make yourself ready to obey it, then only others can teach you the Procedure.
