That happened more than one year.(today I have 25), I had a strange episode at night. I always slept with the locked door of my room, and alone. In any night, I turned off the lamp and I went to sleep. Suddenly, I wake up at night, desperate seeking the switch. I was in panic, and I delayed for to find it, when I had a surprise. The lamp had burned. (only a parentheses: how can a lamp burn, were it turned off?). well then, did I try to unlock the door to leave, but was I so desperate that I didn't get, why reason know there, to unlock the door. I was paralyzed of fear, and my abdomen went hardening so much that it sounded an almost involuntary noise of mixed scream with groan. My parents already heard the screams and they got up to know that was happening. Finally the door opened up, and I ran for the corridor's switch. When I lit the corridor's light, it seemed that everything that had past was only a memory, why was I instantly calm. What was that?

This is most likely a Night Terror. My sister used to have them all the time(still does sometimes). See a counselor about it. Also, you should keep a second light or a flashlight in case this happens again, for some reason darkness is a common fear, and light usually relieves the fear, since you can see nothing is there.

I have had many panic attacks like that, so now I make sure I have some sort of light near me when I sleep.

Also, lights usually burn out when you turn them on(a flash then they are out).

well when you got the light on, it was like a saftey zone for you, and that calmed you down, it was the dark, that put you into the panic, and when you could not find the switches , that just make your panic more, when you found the light outside of your room you were reliefed, and it calmed you down, cause you were feeling safe with the light on.

Sounds very distressing and frightening !
Panic disorders are most times of longer duration and the cause is unknown or very vague.
I sounds more like a "phobia" ( a specific fear of something )
or a "sleep disorder".
Bottom line.......It is so distressing to You that You should get professional help.

Panic disorder is like appending doom, heart beats extreme fast, you can pass out from too much anxiety.no calm, you
would feel exhausted after it's over.Like you ran 5 miles...
Some times there's chest pain and you think you are having a heart attack.I only have had about two P.A.in my life.
But I will never forget them.
