If you are willing to buy one, then go either for Spyware Doctor or AVG anti-spyware. I won't recommend WebRoot SpySweeper.

I will recommend using one with real-time protection and another for on-demand scanning.

Spy Bot search and destroy is a very good one.

It is a freeware yet works a million times better then software we have purchased. We scanned our PC with a brand new program we bought and it cleaned up everything it said it found. Then we downloaded and scanned with Spy Bot and it detected 28 MORE spywares, ad-wares, and malwares.

SpyBot and AdAware are both free and very good. Also check out Windows Defender from M/Soft. All three can be downloaded from the web.
