Simple, does this guy have a weapon that he is going to pull out? That is why I dont fight people, because now adays people dont fight they argue then pull a weapon out and take things way to far. I could care less about winning or losing, I just wanna make it home alive.

Winning was never a worry I had when fighting, however loosing was.
Other than that I really didn't worry about too much. I had a theory on fighting that I lived by for quite some time that went like this:
There are 3 things that can happen in a fight.
1. you can win, and if so, then great.
2. You can loose, but if you gave it your best and put up a good fight, there is a chance that the guy might not want to mess with you again.
3. You can die, and then it really won't matter either way.

#1, breaking my knuckles on my hands to the point I can't throw a punch wihtout feeling great pain on impact, #2 throwing a kick that breaks the bones in the top of my foot instead of throwing a proper Thai kick with the shin as my point of impact, & #3 getting my teeth knocked out cause I have medical insurance but not dental, LOL.

To J, damn good point about the girlfriend of the guy you're fighting shooting you or calling the cops on you for trying to defend her from an abusive boyfriend. That's why when I'm at the club & see something like that go down, I turn the other cheek & walk away. If it's an elderly lady getting mugged, then that's a different situation where I would attack her attacker & go out of my way to cripple him.

my worries in a real fight is that there are no rules, absolutely anything goes. So, the idea is to try to hurt the other person bad enough that they cant hurt you before they can try to do the same. It is true that alot of people now a days will either not fight fair, honourably, or just pull a knife or gun on ya. The best idea, is to not get into one at all, but if you do then win and do it quickly.

If two good fighters go at it your both going to get hurt. If you win the other guys girlfriend may shoot you. If you throw the first punch you will probably get arrested. Real fights aren't like the movies. You win, you will still lose something. The only real way to win is to walk away completely unscathed and the only real way to do that is not to fight in the first place. Plus I could break a nail.

The biggest worries I would have is to have my facial hair shaved off. Got to keep the goatee yaaa know. Haha.

Other than that, I just wouldn't want to get knocked out,and I would try my best to stay out of the area as much as I can, or put my opponent down so I can find some way to escape.

getting injured.

I don't mean hit, I mean injured.

If you walk away with bruises they will heal.

But you don't know what someone could be carrying if the fight escalates and you have the upper hand then they are more likely to do something stupid like pull a weapon.

There are differences in "sport vs. street" but they are not about technique as they are about these issues that you can't really train for.

Things like awareness and such.

They are realities to recognize, NOT an excuse to not train techniques you can learn with the excuse that "it is the street, you can do it so it will work".

protecting my vulnerable areas and avoiding holds/getting taken to the ground are my concerns. I can fight on the ground and honestly I can best pretty much any common punk on the ground but that gives his friends a good chance to kick me in the face
