Lucifer is another name for Satan. There are no "layers" in Hell, perhaps you are referring to Dante's allegorical work.

The name Lucifer occurs once in the Scriptures and only in some versions of the Bible. For example, the King James Version renders Isaiah 14:12: “How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning!

The expression “shining one,” or “Lucifer,” is found in what Isaiah prophetically commanded the Israelites to pronounce as a “proverbial saying against the king of Babylon.” Thus, it is part of a saying primarily directed at the Babylonian dynasty. That the description “shining one” is given to a man and not to a spirit creature is further seen by the statement: “Down to Sheol you will be brought.” Sheol is the common grave of mankind—not a place occupied by Satan the Devil. Moreover, those seeing Lucifer brought into this condition ask: “Is this the man that was agitating the earth?” Clearly, “Lucifer” refers to a human, not to a spirit creature.—Isaiah 14:4, 15, 16.

Lucifer mean "bringer of light" and helps God throughout the Bible by tempting, testing etc. The 9 layers of Hell are from Dante's Inferno, a really good book but not religious doctrine.

Lucifer was the most magnificent angel that wanted to take over the throne of God with his sin of pride. He was cast to earth with 1/3 of the angels who followed him = demons. Lucifer's fallen state = satan. There are no layers of hell. There were 2 compartments of Hades before Jesus died on the cross and conquered death and pd for our sins so we could go to the perfect, sinless heaven. One side was bad for the unbelievers, and the other side was the good side (paradise)for the believers. When Jesus resurrected from the dead, he decended into Hades to set the captives free from the paradise side and they went to heaven. Since then, the paradise side no longer exists, but Hades still does.

Lucifer was the fallen angel we all know as Satan. 9 layers of hell sounds like you're referring to Dante.
