That's a tough one. Well it's lonely living in your dream apartment alone, with no loving pet to greet you when you get home.

Try looking for another apartment that caters to your ideals and needs, as well as can accomodate your pet.

If you really can't take your dog with you, find a nice friend or a nice family who can take your dog.
Or you can sell him, but make sure you screen the buyers so you can give him to a happy family or owner.

But, if I were you, I'd just search for another apartment. I dn't think I can give up a dog I raised and love since he was a puppy.

I'm going to go against the grain here....

A dog..yes can be a member of the familiy, but if this is something that you really want, I'd consider it.

The reason I feel this way is I have a friend that has two girls, and its all she can do to afford to pay rent, and feed herself and girls. She's been evicted repeatedly for non-payment, and basically been put in the street. I took her in. When it come down to providing a home for her kids, she'd rather have lived on the streets, than take a home that didn't allow dogs. Now at some point, she had a decision to make in the best interest of her kids, not her dogs.

So...see where I'm coming from. No...your not in a desperate situation by having to make a decision between your dog or a home. But...reality is, a dog is not a child...they are a companion, and can be replaced.

Your dog knows you and loves you. You know your dog and love your dog. Do not give up your dog for an apt. You will regret later giving up your dog if you were to take the apt. Believe me. The right place will come along at the right time, for you and your dog to live together at a place near the waterfront. Just give it time. Take care.

Anyone who would even consider this could not possibly love their dog.
I have 4 dogs and Id live in a shack if I had to to keep them. They are not something you just throw away because its inconvenient. So dont say you love your dog.
As for the answer to your question i advise you to find a home for your dog with people who WILL love it and move to your apartment building. Your dog will be better off.

If you really love your dog- you wouldn't give your best friend up. That dog has a home. He knows where he belongs, he depends on you for everything- and suddenly you throw him out for some dream home? The dog will go through a terrible time, until and if he is placed in a new home. Maybe the home wouldn't be as loving as your home. Maybe you should reconsider. I have the best dog in the world. I wouldn't give up my dog, a Lhasa Mix for anything. She is the cutest, the funniest dog I've ever seen.

I would never give up my pet for an apartment waterfront or not. I think in the long run you would miss your dog and wouldn't be happy. If you have someone that you could give your dog to that you know so that you could continue seeing him and know for sure that he is okay it may make it better. Otherwise I wouldn't do it.

Do you have anyone who could keep your dog for you for a while? You might move into the apartment and then decide it wasn't worth it. Would your parents or someone keep the dog for a few months until you're sure you want to do that?

Is there a possibility of another dream apartment becoming available? If not, which will you regret most, losing the dog or the apartment? Make a list of pros/cons for each. The longest list of pros wins.

Not sure about you, but my dogs have always been part of my family. I would never give up a family member whom I love very much.... Find a different spot to live and keep your dog near your heart.

That dog is one of your own children!
You can't let him go! Just keep on trying more apartments or places that you are looking for, it'll work, God found our dream home that was a very nice area and they let my 12 birds stay all for free!
