Depends on how you files. If she applies for a work visa, it takes about 24 hours once she shows the proper paperwork and the actual visa. If you are just filing a petition for her to remain in the USA, which takes up to 2 years, then...
The pt is that getting the SSN is fast but getting the required paperwork for it is LONG.
Btw, a ssn is NOT automatic when you get married. My father married someone from a different country. It is a long, difficult process...

Do you want a social security card or social security payments? If you want a card you have to go down and apply for one and they send it out in a few weeks. There are requirements for qualifying for one but I don't know what they are. Check with your local Social Security office.
If you want the payments you have be over 62 and you have to have worked for a certain length of time and built up funds in your account. Or you have to be the widow or dependent child of someone who did have an account. Again, check with your local Social Security office.

It normally takes anywhere from two to six weeks. First you have to apply at the social security administration. Probably need to make sure you have your marriage license and certificate, old social security card, birth certificate, driver's license... all just in case stuff! Makes the process a lot smoother.

Social Security isn't something you "get" for getting married. You're supposed to get it by working for years and contributing money toward it.

After you get married, your wife has to apply for a green card.
As soon as she get her green card, she will be able to apply for a SSN and it's usually take 2 weeks.
But some places let you apply for a SSN after you get married, no need to wait for green card.
