My own vet recommends that the owner make an appointment the first time he lifts his leg to pee, or at 6 months, whichever comes first.

Some people believe that males can only be neutered when their gonads have dropped. This is not true. It's as easy as taking him to the vet and getting them whipped out. Usually comes with an over night stay. Male Jack Russell can get pretty aggressive if they aren't neutered. They are very territorial. They're little, friendly dogs if they're indoors and neutered. They absolutely adore their family.

Veterinarians can safely neuter/spay an animal as long as it weigh a minimum of one pound (this is to keep anesthesia complications to a minimum). However, some veterinarians will not do the procedure until they are a minimum of six months. This is simply a preference. If you want to have your pet neutered now, and he weighs a minimum of a pound, then call around until you find a veterinarian that will do the surgery. I have worked in the veterinary field for more than 10 years and I have worked with vets on both sides of the fence. I have found the younger the animal the easier he/she handles the procedure, the easier he/she wakes up from the anesthesia, and the faster he/she recovers from the surgery and returns to normal.

Anytime now. 2-3 months is the best time. They don't even seem to skip a beat when done this early and the longer estrogen or testosterone is in the body the more likely they are to get certain types of cancers like prostate, testicular or ovarian, and breast cancers. I usually neuter mine around 10 weeks old.

The best time to do this would be anytime, the younger the better for him, sometime when you neuter your dog their attitude pipes down a lot, so their not as aggressive, maybe peeing on the floor house accidents and such, so I hope this helps.
