God created us with a much bigger purpose then that! Just the fact of glorifying Him with our lives, being free of the bondage of sin and to look forward to our Eternal Life is enough purpose for me.

God created Adam and Eve to be in relationship with him. Without creation how could God express himself, pour out his love. That was and is God's desire, purpose for us. To have a relationship with his creation. Death entered the picture later along with actual labor, and the pain of child birth. That's what happened when man exited the relationship with God.

Our first purpose in life it to worship God.
That means taking in knowledge, praying, associating with his people, doing works that help our fellowman.
Matt 22:40

Jesus came to earth to show us how to pray and worship our father. He bought back with his perfect life all of us from sin and death. Now we have a chance to live forever here on earth...Psalms 37

To read your bible, to share it with others, to meditate on God's word and to conduct yourself and teach your children and others what God requires takes a lot of time.

But look what he offers us if we comply...life without end in a paradise free from crime and disease and death. We will all be youthful again and have plenty to do learning how to play instruments and traveling the world over, getting to meet the ones who have died and been resurrected like Daniel, Moses, Abraham. and Job.

We will enjoy eternity on a clean earth as we continue to serve the Most High God and he promises things you have never even imagined he will have for us.

Now is the time to act. Bring your life into conformity to insure you will pass the great tribulation soon to come upon the earth.

He did create man with a great purpose - all those things you mentioned are just aspects of getting us to our real purpose. He created us with a 3-fold purpose: 1) to conform to Christ's image, 2) to be overcomer's and 3) to prepare for our royal assignments. We are to be the Bride of Christ and to rule and reign with Him. The things we learn here in becoming like Christ and overcoming sin, the world and the devil are all simply to prepare us for our future role in heaven. God has an eternal purpose for each of us but it begins in "boot camp" in the here and now.

i have yet to hear ANYONE give an actual reason that we are here. not that "to serve God" crap, why would he create us to do that? he had angels. Christianity (and i only mean literalist revelations stuff) tacitly implies that our only real purpose is to F--- up so badly at what God clearly instructs us to do that He will have to come down and destroy Satan on earth for us. Then after defeating the source of all evil, i guess we just have to kiss his *** for it for 1000 years. should be fun.

Remember that the Bible says this is not the "real" life. God has much more in store for us--be patient!!

You made my point exactly, Fred. For people who don't know God and His great purpose, life really sucks. Doesn't it?
