smart people make bad decisions too. A lot of religion (religion, not spirituality) is social, anyway. You do what your parents taught you to do.

What do we know about him? Did he question and search and make peace with the cruelty of God and the Biblical issues and choose to believe anyway? If he did, good for him. Is he blindly doing what his mommy told him when he was 4? Then he is an idiot. Smart people do stupid things and though rare, stupid people pull off a smart thing or two. I think you need a hug and a nap.

That . . . doesn't even come close to making sense. I know very intelligent Christians and very stupid ones, just as I know very intelligent athiests, and very stupid ones. There were many Christian people involved with the HGP, so consider that.
