that in both Hindu scriptures (bhagwan gita and Vedas).. there is not a single reference of the word 'Hindu'?

Hmm, not exactly.

However, they use Sanskrit to describe the word. It originated from a river called Sindhu by the Persians and later the Persians started to call the adherents of Hinduism "hindus" because they lived in the Indian subcontinent around or beyond the Sindhu.

Hindu is not the name of religion.
It is in fact geographical term.
People who lives in the area after River Indus from west till Bangal.

I presume so, if I read correctly. It was in the nineteenth century when they were given the term 'Hindu' by the 'Western Indologists'. But before that 'they were defined as only those subscribing to the Brahmanical sects' (Read link below for info)
