me and my girlfriend have been dating for 2 years and 3 months. We've had a long distance of 6 hours for about 1 year and 7 months. We see eachother once every 4 weeks. I can't get accepted to her university and she wants to go to Austrailia to study abroad for 6 months. Is it reasonable to ask for a break and go our own ways for a while and if we somehow get back together then we know it was ment to be?

Absolutely reaonable! I think it's best actually! That way, neither of you feel guilty about doing other things or meeting new people while she is gone! And hey, this will be a good way to tell if you two are really for each other! Test the waters and see what you think, if it's meant to be, then you will be back together when she comes back!
Goo dluck and I hope it works out the way you planned!

Oh for crying out loud, if you want your freedom just ask. Don't try to make it her fault because she selected a school you can't get into. Man up! If you were in love with her waiting would be no problem it would in fact just be a great opportunity for you to get some studies out of the way. However, it sounds like you want to become a player that being the case get a back bone and inform your girlfriend before she leaves town.

Yes, its not really good to be in a long distance relationship. It just puts you far apart. So that would be a good idea.

i dont believe in breaks, only break ups...if you love her and trust her, six months should not matter. Stay commited and keep in contact.
If you cant be faithful or think she may not, break up.
