India is also called Hindusthan because, the Persians used to refer the inhabitants of Indus Valley as Hindu and the place as Hindusthan due to pronunciation variation in place as Sindhusthan in Sanskrit. Bharat is the most ancient name of India as derived from a King as well as Rishi by the same name at least more than half a million years.

Before Meghastenes wrote his travelogue under the caption 'Indica', India for the western Persians, Turks, Arabians and Syrians was known as Hindusthan or the place where Hindus reside. Bharat is the original ancient name of India.

Bharat is its real name but the foreign rulers called it India and Hindusthan. Bharat's culture is Bharatiyata. People of Bharat are Bharatiya.

India's original name is Bharat, but ironically, even after many years of independence from foreign rule it is known as India as called by the Christian rulers from Britain and Hindusthan as referred to by the Muslim invaders.
