Whatever the cause there is several predictions of rising sea levels worldwide. This interface between land and sea is also where a large percentage of the worlds population and money is invested.
Is anyone aware of any government / authority that has changed or banned areas for building to allow for future sea level increases?

I don't konw since Bush refused to sign a document that helps protect humans from global warming. Every other country signed it but he said that if China didn't sign it, why should the U.S. sign it? It's really disappointing.

The problem with building on the coast is that you are more at risk from flooding due to the weather. It may not be that government restrict development in these areas, but that insurance companies refuse to sell polices or the policies are cost prohibitive. Since the population density has increased in these areas, the cost of destruction from the same size storm today is more than it was several decades ago.

As far as my comment to Jimmy, There is no evidence to support global warming as being caused by anthropomorphic means. In other words, it is not man made.

Sea levels are not predicted to rise world wide. Sea level rise needs to be relative to something. What are you measuring sea level rise against? In some places sea level relative to shore line is falling. However having said that, the sea has risen 80 meters since the end of the last ice age and that's due to NATURAL global warming. Having said that (again) the Great Barrier Reef (GBR) Australia has only existed where it is for about 50,000 years and not millions like the greenies will tell you. THAT'S A FACT! So its due to global warming that we have the GBR in the first place.

Are you kidding? They're already rebuilding below current sea level in New Orleans, and asking for federal grants to do it! Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you view it) it will be a few hundred years at this alarming rate of temperature increase before there will be a detectable increase in sea level. This gives our governments plenty of time to forget about any danger presented and be caught unawares if it really does happen.
