When you talk, is he listening to what you have to say or is he just waiting for the next opportunity to tell you more about himself.
If he "seems" to be listening, is he also asking questions about what you've just said and listening more or does the conversation seem to migrate back to what interests him?
The point of the questions is if he's truly interested in you, he'll want to know more about YOU and spend most of the "upfront" time focused on that rather than attempting to "blow you away" with how great, special, popular, etc. he is.

some times you just can't tell. some guys are shy and won't say anything, but every once in a while you can catch him looking at you. if nothing else ask him or one of his friends.
