We always make a box oven when we camp. Then we can have anything we want! Our usual fare includes lasagna, brownies, baked potatoes, chicken parm, cinnamon rolls, monkey bread, onion rice, cheesy potato casserole and a host of other foods that most people don't make while camping. Basically we cook normal foods in a box oven or over the fire!

The bes tthing we made (Car camping, not wilderness backpacking) was Shish-kabob. The day before we left, we took plastic bags and began marinating chopped pork, beef, and chicken. We took with us all the veggies and at the campsite the next day, we sliced and basted the veggies with some of the seasoning form the marinade, used the sticks to load up all the ingredients, and walla! Easy Shish-Kabob that you would have thought came form a gourmet restauarant!

Have you ever tried Foil Packet meals? They are really good! What you need to do is get a good fire going and let it burn out. Then get some chicken or hamburger and vegetables (any kind that you want should work) and wrap them in heavy duty foil. Then stick them in the HOT coals till done. I think that they might take 30 to 40 minutes to completly cook. you need hot pads or long tongs to pick them up out of the coals when done. Check out the website below for more ideas. Enjoy
