Kids shortly after birth are given the measle mumps rubella vacination, called and mmr. It is mandatory, so your kids should already be protected if they are exposed. Just take a look at the vacinnation records and if you see the MMR test done, mumps was covered. Good luck. Oh, yes a 43 year old woman can get the mumps, I myself in nursing school in Nov. Had to be re vacinated with the MMR shot, woke up the next day sick, and two weeks later had a slight case of the mumps. So yes it is out their but if your children are current on vacinations they should be fine.

I know it sounds strange but if you were born before 1957 then you are probably immune to mumps. What makes you think this woman might have mumps? Yes there is a mumps vaccination but I don't know if it works after you've already been exposed. But most kids are already vaccinated by the time they are a year old.

If she has never had the mumps and is not vaccinated and gets exposed to it she can get it.
