Help with spanish translation?

Question

Does the phrase "estoy pidiendo la tarea cuando recorde que ya la habia pedido" make any sense? There should be an accent on the "e" in "recorde", making it past tense, and an accent on the "i" in "habia". In my opinion, it is unclear because it mixes the present progressive and the preterite tenses, but the opinion of a fluent/native speaker would be helpful.

No, the sentence does not make sense.
You're right - the progressive and the preterite are mixed up in the wrong way.
You can say: "Estaba pidiendo la tarea cuando recorde (with an accent on the last e) que ya la habia (with an accent on the i) pedido."
This would then mean: "I was asking for the homework when I remembered having done it."

I am a native speaker, and to me the sentence does make sense. I percieved it as being part of a conversation...However, the phrase would make more sense if it said, "estoy pidiendo la tarea, cuando derepente, recordé que ya la había pedido"... I am asking for the homework, when suddenly, I remember I had already asked for it.

So again, TO ME, it makes sense. It's a little difficult to answer without knowing what the supporting text says. ;-) Hope I helped.

BTW, I disagree with Yiya:
It does not say-
"I was asking for the homework when I remembered having done it." that would be "estaba pidiendo la tarea, cuando recordé haberlo hecho"

It is another possible answer:

Estaba pidiendo la tarea y de pronto recordé que la había pedido anteriormente.
the sentence the one you typed it, its called simple sentence.

the sentence in general doesnt make sense because it says im asking for the homework when i remembered dat i had lost it. so you'd have to change it around to get it to say what u wunt it to.
w/o the "estoy pidiendo" part everything else is fine and does make sense

i'm not a native speaker but the reason that the present progressive doesnt make sense is because it should be in the past progressive. estaba not estoy.
