If you knew a guy for years who had always been there for you & never pressured you for sex or even a relationship yet sent you a card after hearing your mother was dying that read " Through good times & bad through happy & sad, beside you I stand, beside you I walk, here to listen, here to talk, with happiness, with smiles, thru pain & tears, I hope you know I will always be there " what would you think?

You just told her that you will always be just a friend.
Talk to her. Tell her how you feel. If she doesn't know by now, she never will. If you don't do something, you will follow this same path forever. I think you are afraid of losing her. You don't have her the way you want her. If you don't do something, you will be watching her take another man to her bed soon.

I would think this was some kinda dream come true :-)

I'm not sure what you're asking, really - If I wasn't interested in the guy romantically, I'd be incredibly grateful to have a friend like that.

If I WAS interested, I guess it would give me some hope - althought honestly, I don't read anything other than real kindness and friendship into the words - I'd need more signs of romantic interest than that, given the "platonic" history.

Hope that made some kinda sense

I would think it was sweet, i didnt know too many guys who will admit something like that, (that he is there emotionally for a girl)
most of my friends are guys and if I was in that situation Id probably get a hug and a "I'm Sorry". I think that you are a very caring friend, and or you have a little crush. But any girl should feel privileged to have a friend like you.

If I received a card like that, I would think that the person who gave it to me was just being a good friend. Not every act of kindness has an ulterior motive behind it.

I personally would take it as a courtesy/sympathy card. I of course would be grateful in the situation, but I don't think I would take it romantically at all.
If you want it to be taken more romantically, then I would recommend putting a personal note in the card, I can't tell you what to say because it should reflect your personality and your relationship with this person.
Good luck :]

That he grabbed up the first card that he come across that half way stated what he was thinking...and checked out.

Nice card, Nice sentiments....but I don't put much thought into cards being given, maybe its because I know the amount of effort I put into them, or what effort I have seen many people put into them..which is little.

*sorry had to go back and edit, I misread the post...lol

If I read that I would think I had a caring friend who was there for me no matter what. However, if I was single, I might want to take it a step further as he sounds like a true catch!!.

Then I think that I would have found the perfect man. I'm guessing that you sent this to a girl that you like...in time, she will come around. And if she doesn't, it wasn't meant to be and you tried. Believe me, there are plenty of girls out there who would LOVE to have a guy say that and MEAN it.

Well It could mean he cares for you as a best friend or It could mean he wants more with you. The question you need to be asking yourself Is do you like him? If you do and you think things could work out then ask him out. Good luck

I would think he is a really good friend who is there for me. I wouldn't read anymore into it than that. It's a really nice card. Hope that helps.
