I'm reading that she was put in a psych ward by the German govt because she likes homeschooling - they diagnosed her with school phobia. I can only find articles on this on minor publications that have a right-wing bias, so I'm looking for mainstream sources or original documents to confirm.

At last call...she was still under the social office custody...in some kind of family home in the region. Traditionally....the social office has a home or two in each community where up to a dozen kids may stay where there are issues in the family. The amusing thing in this case is that this is the first case anyone can remember where the kid was not in trouble and not in a direct fight with the family.

The judge handling the episode has bent over backwards on some occassions and tried to be more favorable with the family....but the social office people are the difficult ones in the episode. They believe that she has some type of emotional issue which prevents her from continuing her education process. Their doctor has vouched for their case...so the judge has been pressed into the corner.

There are three scenarios to the situation. The girl may well be sitting there in some kind of foster-home care for months (after age 16...there are some legal tactics that she can use to force them to release her). Second possibilty....the family might eventually figure out where she is and simply take her....removing her from Germany. There are enough supporters in the US that a hiding situation could be arranged. Finally....the girl might accidentally get a copy of Joan of Arc and start envision herself in a totally different light, and put the social office in a very awkward position. We haven't had a die-hard teenage girl in Europe....kicking the authorities around for 500 years....it might be interesting to see one emerge now.

If it's the same person I'm thinking of (15yo girl):

Last I heard, she had been placed in a psych ward and her parents were also undergoing psychiatric evaluation and possible confinement in a psych ward. Sorry, that's all I've heard recently.
