Well, I'd say no, but everybody always tries to convince me that they can..
Really, I'd just like to hear your opinion about it. No flaming please..

Well the people who try to tell me that they can are only 10-12 years old..
I don't believe them, and I always try to prove them wrong, but they just don't believe me. So after I show them this, hopefully they will. =D
I didn't really mean ANY dog that has a good life, but I think that if I were bred to fight my whole life that I would get thoughts of suicide..
I don't disagree with anybody though, since this is all about opinion.

No. I do believe they get depressed, but I can't imagine suicide being there. The only reason we think about it is because we know it exists. I don't think a dog could know about it, unless their buddy went running in front of a truck. They do get depressed to the point of not eating, but after a few days, they always come around. It is natural instinct for animals to survive. Even though people do commit suicide, I have heard from many survivors that after the point of no return, they wish they could take it back all of a sudden.

No one can "read" a Dog's mind and they are of much lower creative intelligence, more creatures of survival, "instant gratification" rather than contemplators of their unrequited love. They are loyal and adapt to most situations. They tend to be easily pleased and consoled as well as distracted. If able to get out, escape, they will leave a horrible enviroment. Unless very dull in the head, then some will stay, just as people do, with the most intolerable of owners. Suicide-is just to cerebral.

No. But you dont really know some pets always try to sucide by different ways such as when i was in Muscat, my neighbours cat always tried to jump out and always tried to come near a car. But I think dogs have a type of instinct of survival they wanna live not die.

When I see a dead dog or animal on the road, I try to tell myself that it was suicide. That they were just tired of living or depressed. I hate to see it and have to make some sense of it.

No, I dont think they have thoughts of suicide. They cant understand the concept of suicide - thats why those animals (i forgot what they are called) all jump off the mountain cliff when they see the others falling to death. I dont think its planned to kill themselves, they just dont know any better.

No....dogs live in the "now"...they don't hold grudges, they don't cry themselves to sleep at night, they arn't sad because you yelled at them for eating your shoes....dogs live very full lives with not alot of worry...they live for the day...they don't live in the past or the future
