Not in Texas but you do have to have $100,000 insurance in some places and more counties are trying to get that passed. A lot of people don't know that most homeowners insurance will cover it, and they end up paying for a separate policy. I think it's ridiculous. My neighbors kid acts worse than my pit but I can't fine his parents for having a brat. And the kid hurts my son, tears up my sons toys, and will turn around and hit me if I tell him something. He's more of a threat to society than Dosia. I think if more people would stop buying into the medias exaggeration and listening to people that have never even seen a pit let alone owned one, there wouldn't be this problem. I'm against the law myself. I say it all the time--if you don't like pits don't get one, but don't tell me I can't have one just because you're misinformed and/or want to argue.

Hey Jonny the good news is once they ban Pit Bulls and Rottis, they will be after German Shepherds and Dobermans next! It won't be long until Labs make the list (serious attacks from them are on the rise), then soon after that there Will be a ban on large dogs over a certain weight. People need to wake up and start looking at the BSL being passed, because if you actually READ the bills, they are no longer only targeting Pit Bulls but only mention that breed when they try to get these sorry excuses for legislation through. By the way, THEY DON"T WORK! Very soon there will be states where ALL dogs of certain breeds must spay/neutered (no exceptions for show dogs!). Does anyone see where this is heading? I love how people are so afraid of dogs, yet have no idea how many sex offenders live near them. Go here and give yourselves a real threat to be concerned about: http://www.familywatchdog.us/
Pits are legal in CT (except one town where it will be overturned very soon)because we have higher priorities than worrying about banning dogs.

I live in NH and they are not outlawed. But the other person was right, what's next to be banned? If you read the statistics there are probably more Black Labs attacking than Pits. Bad dogs? No Bad owners? YES!

P.s. I do own a Staffordshire and it only affects my insurance, but there are a ton of dogs on the "bad" list according to the insurance companies!

Not illegal in Phoenix but corporate owned residential rentals that allow pets do not allow particular breeds of dogs. Pit Bulls are on that list.

I heard about Colorado outlawing these dogs. It is shameful that these sweet animals have such a bad reputation but people take advantage of their breeding.
It is the people that train these dogs to be fighters that should be outlawed.

APBTs are legal here in Guam and are used mostly in dog fighting rings. Usually they don't die and the fights are broken up after a good lock or showing of a winner. Sadly some are killed or die as a result of fighting injuries. No ASPCA here. But if your dog attacks or kills a human you go to jail for murder and your dog is killed.

Where I live, yes.

But everybody owns them anyway, and the police or animal rescue centers don't seem to have a problem with it..

My dogs are all very friendly..

Not in East Tennessee. I think they are beautiful and adorable dogs. I know there's always that risk, but no more than rottweilers, which I love too.
