my dogs judt got back from the vet, she has pneumonia, she is only 4 months old, although she seems to be ok-ish, she is constantly dry heaving, the vet said its nothing to worry about but i want to help speed up her recovery coz im very worried.

She is still trying to play, so i am calming her down as i dont want her to struggle with her breathing, her lungs are swollen and pushing against her heart, she is a mini german pincher.

i have seen 2 different vets and both say the same that its nothing to worry about, but i think it is, are the vet skills different in thailand compared to the uk?

I dont like to see her in this discomfort, i have sat at home with her for 5 days solid now and she doesnt seem to be improving.

Help.

If she has pneumonia then she needs to be on large doses of anti-biotics. You can use human cough medcine to help her if she has a really bad cough, but if she isn't too bad, just let her cough a little, as this helps get rid of the gunk out her chest.

Try to find a vet hospital or a vets attached to a vetinary sciences degree course as they will be the best. Especially as she is only 4 months, she needs to be on anti-biotics even if she only has a chest infection, not full pneumonia.

Had a cat with pneumonia - I hope the dog is on antibiotics - it took a while. Definitely don't allow to eat too much too fast, don't give really cold water, lukewarm and call your vet - we used a pediatric decongestent, I can't remember exactly so your pharmacist might help - it was over the counter, something like 1/4% of whatever the med was in it? Also, no hard play - causes excitement and panting. Make sure she's on antibiotics. I'm guessing the heaving is trying to expel phlegm. Good Luck with your baby!

Just let the dog stay calm and watch the dog if it starts to have problems breathing again worse than it is see the Vet again. Make sure that your dog takes all of the antibiotics that the Vet gave you. That is about all you can do.

Antibiotics any where in her care. If so I would think she should be feeling better with in a couple of days. If she wants to play, play with her but not rough or for long periods. Has either vet mentioned using a vaporizers. This might give her some relief. Good Luck.
