My boyfriend of 1yr made a key to my house without my permission!!!!!

None of his belongings are at my house and he only sleeps over maybe 2 times a week. Not to mention he has no business over there while im not there and if he did want to be over there all he had to do was ask for my key.

i dont want to flip out on him, im so surprised he's usually so considerate. he asks me before doing little stuff, why would he think he could just make a key to my place and not tell me? Giving somebody the key to your place is like a milestone in your relationship not something you take upon yourself to do.
all i did was ask for it back i havent really addressed why he did it because i dont want to get too upset. What would you say?

he's a nice guy. the type of guy that wont even eat my chips or drink a soda without asking. which is why i dont understand. I think this is a serious lapse in judgement.

he appeared in my room one night while i was sleep (which is how i figured it out he had a key) he said it was to check on me since i mentioned having a headache earlier. i asked for the key back immediately, he gave it to me. in my half-sleep i asked why he had it he said he wanted to check on me and its not a big deal (making a key). he accused me of being selfish. i told him i couldnt talk to him then and sent him home.

hes never even asked for a key to my place before, i dont think im being selfish ITS MY HOUSE.

You're pissed, go ahead.

But first, talk with him in peace. Tell him to talk to you first before made decision. Don't loose your temper and ask nicely for the key ( you love him, right? )

Explain the situation and your feeling, make sure he doesn't do that again.

I would ask him why he did it in the first place, and let him know how I feel, especially if he always asked before doing something like that. Which is why your questioning him. Maybe he has a reasonable answer, maybe not. If he seems to get upset, make sure to stay calm and just keep getting your point across. Like you said he has nothing there and hardly sleeps, so why is he making copies of your keys?

It's better to be safe now than sorry later. So change your lock, immediately. But before you tell him you've had it changed, ask him for a copy of HIS house key. If he doesn't want to give you one, it's an almost certainty that he got yours for a sneaky reason. If he's a jealous man, maybe he's coming into your house at night while you sleep to see if you are with someone else. He's definitely hiding something from you.The thought of someone sneaking in and peeking on ME, gives me cold chills. Please be careful.

I would demand the key back. Nobody has the right to invade your personal space without your permission. Sounds like a stalker in the making. Protect yourself, dump him, change the locks and if need be get a protection order to keep him away from you. This guys sounds really toooooo pushy.

you have a right. he may not trust you and hopes to 'catch' you in the act. This may even be the first stages of abuse or control. I'd ask for the key back and ask him why he did it. if his answer puts your mind at ease, then be easy on him. It may have been harmless thinking he is comfy enough to move to that next level with you. or he could be thinking maliciously too. be careful and cautious. you just never know. People can be together for years before abuse or controlling nature comes out in them.

You do have a right to be mad. What he did was straight up foul. Let him know you didn't appreciate that and you won't tolerate such action in the future. If you don't, he will try to do other stuff behind your back.

Ask for the key back too. If he won't do so, change the locks.

I wouldn't bother asking for the key back, for all you know, he made more than one copy. I would just break up with him and get your locks changed.

I think you definetly have a right. you have to tell him that he can't keep the key because you didn't authorize it, and that next time he should ask. good luck and i hope it goes well for you
