I'm a Christian, but I do not go around barking at people for their 'sins'. I'm cool with other people's beliefs and about Gays and Lesbians! I'm also a Democrat!
My wife, for that matter is a social worker, and I've been an elementary teacher for six years at a Montessori School. It pretty much doesn't get too much more liberal then that!
But, I don't appreicate it that people focus on other people having weight problems. I used to be a Body Builder and I'm still into Power lifting and Jujutsu martial arts, but I really struggle with snacking and eating too much sugar. I've recently cut-out soda and soft drinks and I'm losing weight.
But, it's really difficult for me and my wife. We're both overweight and I notice people's attitude in the line at the grocery store, and the sassy child who likes to say, "He's really Big!" and the parents don't correct the child for Blurting out personal comments.
It's not a very Honorable thing to be oveweight, it SUCKS.
What's more is that people usually guess that I weigh 200 pounds, they are usually shocked to hear that I am 300!
Like I said, I lift weights, and I'm usually the guy in the gym that people like to stop and watch as I bench press or do squats! But, I'd give all that away if I could be the really thin fast runner who can do marathons and mountain climb!
It hurts me a little bit to hear people make harsh remarks about other who are overweight!
I can undersand how that Christians are annoying, pretty much (eventhough I'm a Christians) they annoy me too!
But, I wish people would not focus on other people and focus on their own problems. This goes for both Christian and Non-Christians!

It's been proven that people who are obese have trouble producing an enzyme that is called "leptids". It is the thing that tells the brain that they are full and they don't need anymore. Just because someone maybe obese does not mean they are void of wisdom. Gluttony may not necesarily be talking about food, gluttony is defined as excess or greedy, it can be food but other things you abuse. If you ask questions like these you better rethink whether you are or not what you say you are. You are first and foremost suppossed to forgive people of their faults.

How do you know why an obese person is obese? Why are you assuming it is because of gluttony?
"The lab found that while the gnotobiotic mice were able to feast on rodent chow and remain thin, their genetically identical counterparts with bacteria in their guts ate 29 percent less and had 42 percent more body fat. The bacteria made the mice fat."

Nobody should judge ANYBODY-as hard as that is. Just because somebody is a Christian, does not mean that they aren't struggling with things the same way everybody else in the world is. God delivers in His own timing, and He uses people as vessils to spread His word, regardless if they are crack addicts, OBESE, or smokers, etc. It does not matter. All that matters is that they are speaking God's word. We ALL struggle. NOBODY is perfect.

what's the dilemma? a person can be obese for numerous (and simultaneous) reasons, but i can't think of any that are based on morality. even if you stretch the definition of "morality," how would you be able to ascertain how a person became obese?
being lectured by anyone -- christian and/or obese -- sucks. period.

i'm sure you are thinking that the person is obese due to the "deadly sin of gluttony." Overeating is not the only way to become overweight. Some people have hormonal/glandular problems or slow metabolisms. and yes this happens to christians too.

Hmm...ironic that you're judging someone for being fat yet you can't spell simple words or capitalize proper nouns. Maybe you should worry about simple phonics instead of getting preached to. You need a dictionary, not a bible. Tell them you're still trying to grasp the English language and I'm sure they'll leave you alone.

Christians have all kinds of struggles--just like you non-Christians. A major difference is that we ask God for help in dealing with these things.
Another thing, please. Just because someone is obese doesn't mean they're any less lacking self-control than someone who might indulge in another form of behavior.

It is not good to judge because God does not judge people so i guess it is a moral dilemma.
1 Samuel 16:7
The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.

True. Gluttony is one of the seven deadly sins. Unless it's a hormonal or metabolic disorder.
