I have seen a few times Muslims berate Christianity for saying it is too easy because you can be forgiven for sinning. So here is my question. In Islam once you sin is that it? Are you doomed? Can you be forgiven? If you can be forgiven then how are we diffrent in that respect? Are there certain things forgivable and certain things not? Are there levels of sin? Christians believe that all sin is equal in Gods eyes so Im just wondering. If you have to be perfect your whole life it would seem to me there is no real hope because its impossible to be perfect. I promise to respect your answers even if I do not agree with them. So what do you think?

There are levels of sin for sure.

Being a hypocrite is the worst sin: (Muslims in name and then backstab Muslims) the 7th hell is reserved for them.

Shirk-association with partners is also "the worst sin" as well and unforgivable.

Murder, gambling, drinking, adultery are also MAJOR sins.

You can either be punished in this life, in the next or both. Obviously punishment in this life is much better, but you don't want to be "cleansed" of your sins, you want to be forgiven.

For forgiveness:
1. Truly ask for forgiveness, like not just "blah blah forgive me or something".
2. Commit to stopping the sin soon.

If you continue to do the same sin over and over, it probably won't be forgiven.

We are similiar to the Christians except we don't believe in Original sin, don't believe Jesus (as) was the son of God and that he died for our sins.

Muslims believe all sins can be forgiven except for Shirk (association of partners with Allah/polygamy), if you truly repent and try to avoid it in the future.

I think they might be referring to "Jesus died for our sins", maybe?
Does that mean you're already forgiven for any sins that you might commit?

When you ask some one for Job, you ask minimum qualification required, and more then that is bonus for making some preferable on others.

Same way minimum qualification for getting this privilege is to have true faith on One God Almighty, Faith on Holy Prophets, Faith on Holy Books, Faith on Angles, Faith on Last Day of Judgment.
