A dove is white. That's it.

There is definitely a difference and you can go to a library for more info. Pideons do not mate for life as Doves do, they are generally gray to bluish in color and are considered more of a scavenger bird, they will eat almost anything. Doves look for fruits such as berries and seeds and small nuts. Doves communicate constantly with their mates in the form of a cooing sound or a mournful wail thus the term "mourning Doves." Pigeons are fairly solitary and will roam. Doves for the most part will stay in one area when they find a safe and plentiful food source.

I am absolutly astond at some of the answers. I'm not even old enough to get a car, and yet I know the answer...
Most doves arn't even white. The "Piegon" perple refer to are called "Rock Doves" one of the more common of doves. Doves can range anywhere from pink to black. There are some types that are pure black, some a cream color, and are tan, and just about everything inbetween that. It amazes me that if a white dove sat infront of someone, that person would be amazed, yet if a rock dove came up, the person could care less. It's sad that people can be racists in the bird world too...

In ornithological practice there is a tendency for "dove" to be used for smaller species and "pigeon" for larger ones, but this is in no way consistently applied, and historically the common names for these birds involve much variation between "dove" and "pigeon".

Pigeon: any one of a group of birds with a plump body, short tail and short legs...There are numerous species, making up a family of birds. The smaller kinds are usually called doves.

Dove: a bird with a thick body, short legs, and a beak enlarged at the tip. It is a small kind of pigeon that is not domesticated.

None really, both are in the same family, pigeons are often called "rock doves" doves are bit more calm, gentle and quiet. Pigeons can be gentle but can get pretty vocal when they want to. There's also a difference is size and certain colors.

Pigeons and Doves

Pigeons and Doves have several distinctive features of the biology. If there is one single thing that defines the pigeons, it is the presence of the 'crop', a storage sac in the throat. This allows for digestion of quickly gulped food. And in the breeding season produces a substance known as 'pigeon milk' of which both the parents use to feed the young (Crome 1998). They also have 'powder down' feathers. Instead of major oil glands to use for preening, they have special feathers that disintegrate to powder that the cleans and lubricates the feathers (Crome 1998).

Many people think they are split into two different groups. However, there is no true scientific technical difference between 'pigeons' and 'doves'. Generally, the smaller pigeons often get called 'doves', but this is fairly inconsistent. They can generally be split into two different groups, but this is based more on their ecology and diet. There are those pigeons that feed on seeds, and those that feed on fruit.

Those species that feed on seeds tend to live in more open, drier country, and these include some of the better known and more commonly seen pigeons. However, tropical rainforest has many of the second type. These fruit eaters tend to that live in these wetter forests, are lesser known, but more diverse. They tend to live high in the canopy, are often colourful, and difficult to spot.

There is no true scientific difference between 'pigeons' and 'doves'. While the smaller pigeons often get called 'doves', this is fairly inconsistent. The family can be split into two different groups, but this is based more on their ecology and diet. There are those pigeons that feed on seeds (usually duller coloured, ground-dwelling pigeons), and those that feed on fruit (more striking, aboreal species). The Daintree area has a diverse group of pigeons, with representatives of both types of pigeons, although many species are heard more often than seen.

Diving is going down at the same time as there is not any contact what so ever in desire of having a loose kick/penalty, and also you'll nicely be booked for diving. taking position straightforward is at the same time as there is contact yet no longer a lot, in spite of the undeniable fact that it nevertheless counts as a foul if the opponent did not contact the ball, you won't be able to be booked for taking position straightforward until eventually the referee idea it replaced right into a dive.
